Yeah, it sounds great. Boogie makes some of the best amps around at crazy affordable prices. No need to pay big bucks for the latest single channel amp or mod anymore.

sounded real good but the best i heard out of the box with little tweaking needed is the BRAY 4550
this is basically a amp that will do older and newer VH tones without breakin a sweat.

agreed, but i'm a fanboy.

Sounded great. Particularly the 1st half before the rectifier tubes were engaged.

YEP! :D I love my 4550 Deluxe!

Just shows what you can do with tweaking on a versatile amp. I'm surprised it not Greenbacks though, I wouldn't have guessed V30's.

I wonder how well a Roadster could pull these tones off? Just think, you could get a VHish type tone on channel 3 in vintage, then a crushing metal kill puppies tones on channel 4 in modern mode.

Sure but think about all the other tones a Recto can do that a Bray wouldn't be able to come close to.

Curious, how tight does a bray 4550 feel?

Can it clean up to edge-of-breakup, or does it always have that saturated sizzle (that happens to be great for early vh)

Yeah, but I can get a used dual recto for $800, two used boogie 4x12's for $400 a piece. You have more than that in just the modded head.  Plus the boogie is a 2 channel amp with a loop and foot switches. You lose.

Basically how I use my recto. I really only use one channel at a time so I have orange set for a crunch chan and a boost for one band, and red boosted for the Cookie Monster band. It always surprises me how different I can dial it in.

That sounds phenomenal, which proves my point that when imitating another player, it is the playing that is the most important thing...

Ive seen dual & trpp Rec's go for $600 here.

Same with JCM 2000 DSL's, fact i paid $600 for a DSL.

I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I have never had a problem with gear purchases.

There's a 68 & 69' Super Trem i been watchin ... feel free to indulge, it may take me a while for the capital.

Thanks for posting the links. I have a 1967 plexi I'm going to sell. Those prices give me an idea of how much to ask for mine.

I found that tone pretty boring and uninspiring, which is how I feel about dual recs these days

Never heard a triple Rec do that. But I guess most people don't use them for that sound.

Sounded great!!

Nice sound, what sort of settings are you using? How different are the Dual and Triple Recs? I'm assuming you could achieve similar sounds with a Dual too?

Dual is 100 watt, triple is 150 other than that i believe they're the same.

They player said having the Presence all the way up on "Vintage" mode was the key.

: Big iron, SLO circuit, powerful EQ. The amazing thing is how Nickelback made them sound so bad. You can set all the dials at noon, dig in and this is how it will sound, pretty much. I cranked presence, that's the only thing ...
