Just waaaay overpriced imo. I just couldnt justify spending that kind of jack on a guitar I would NEVER play live

I own everything else EVH ever designed and Im amazed at how different the neck is on those art series guitars. Nothing like the ebmm's, peavey's or new EVH models

Agreed, The few I played when they came out had very typical fender necks on them. Felt like a Medium C profile...

+1 I don't play live as much as I'd like to, but it would be hard to justify spending that kind of $$$ on a guitar that would never leave my house. More power to the guys that don't give a damn and play these on stage.

I've built a few of them. I'm wet sanding one now I've done in lacquer and nitro with a mahagany body. I thought the basswood ones Ive done in the past just sounded so so hopefully this one will be better.

I think they're very cool but have to agree I don't think I'd ever play one on stage. EVH is just too iconic, the wolfgangs are probably too EVH for me let alone the striped charvel ones unless it was an EVH tribute band. Just my .02.

Tried a few of them when they came out. The cool thing was that they sounded nothing like a Peavey, an EVH Wolfgang or an EBMM EVH.
And they actually sounded and played really good, and different enough to justify spending the money on another EVH guitar, in case you got a Peavey, EBMM or EVH.

Why didn't they make them out of ash like his original? Nothing wrong with basswood. Just curious.

They did when they reissued a copy of his original. This model was purpose built for what he wanted "now"...he's been a fan of basswood going back to the EBMM guitar.

Nine out of 10 times, I'd take the Basswood over the Ash; just a more even tone to my ears.
