The MT15 blows the doors of the LBX. The 50w version is more comparable. I find both of mine to be pretty much equal in volume capability lol!

Do you find the 5150 III 50w to sound much bigger, and with more depth, low end punch, etc... than the MT15?

haha...yeah, midgain is not something I have ever really done. I went from listening to Michael Jackson to listening to almost exclusively metal over night. But yeah...here are some clips of the MT15.

This one is mic'd

This is iphone video comparing my Kruse modded 5153 and my MT15. FWIW, I am NOT a fan of the 5153 without the Kruse Stealth mod. Weak little turd amp when compared to the Peaveys.

MT15 at band practice...for anyone with questions on its ability to keep up with a 100 watt head, my other guitar player was using his Engl PBII in this video. No problem at all. I have played a couple of shows with it, too. If it had a master volume, I would use this amp for all my band needs, and would probably buy a second one.

Some recordings with a couple different mics. Same song, but whatever...

E906 into my Audient ID44.

I think all of these were with my Bauer custom V loaded with MCP Nuke, into one of my cabs...All my cabs are loaded with Legend V12s. The mic'd stuff is through an Avatar Contemporary 212, the in the room stuff in my studio was through my Avatar Signature 212. Band practice stuff is through my Fender MH412. I also have an Avatar Contemporary 112 that might've made it in there somewhere...I dunno, I use that 112 more than my other cabs for jamming around at home, for sure. As far as hiss, it doesn't have any more than any other high gain amp. It seems to have less than my 5153 red channel by a significant amount.

Anyway. This is a serious amp. I have owned a couple of other little ones...6505MH, Mark V25, and Laney IRT studio. The 6505MH was just fucking terrible. Farty piece of shit low end that couldn't get me a tight, articulate tone no matter what I did. I am not a booster of amps...if I can't get that out of just the amp on its own, its out the fucking door. The Mesa just fell apart at band volumes...squealy, squishy compression, farty low end. Sucked. But great GREAT for recording. I still want another one. The IRT was actually surprisingly good, but I could only get the tightness I wanted in the low end with Fishman Fluence pickups, so that was its end for me. But what a great piece of gear that was. The MT15 blows them all out of the water, I think. The 6L6s really give it the low end depth and punch of a bigger amp. The transformers are not small, and I am sure those add a lot to the tone. Its a real amp that can keep up in a real metal band and produce some seriously excellent metal tones. I have had it since end of July, I think, and I have to say...it is my FAVORITE amp that I have played. The sound and feel is right where I want it to be, and even the clean channel is amazing. The only thing I wish it had that it doesn't is a master volume control. I sold 2 Mesa Mark IVs and a 5152 since getting it LOL.

All these threads keep making me think about picking up a MT15, or a 5150 III 50W. Both seem like killer little amps.... little amps that have that low end depth punch that many smaller amps miss.

Yes, they both definitely have the depth that other smaller amps lack.

I was reading some reviews on the PRS forum
Where one guy was using MT15 and the other guitarist could not hear his 100 watt on stage
I have no idea what measurement PRS is using but that amp is just not 15 Watts
For a while it was said that Mark changed it to a 40 but it in the end it’s advertised as a 15 and it’ll run against any 50 easily

Can anyone verify that please? I would definitely want one if it is that compact and can run against a 100-watter.

It's not impossible, my Kraken is super loud (50 watts) in a small package. But I always imagined it was just a 15-watt amp.

Yes, 100% verified. I have consistently been drowning out my other guitar players Engl PBII. Granted people have been saying the PBII is not that loud for a 100 watt head, but I can still over power it with the MT15 easily. I would guess I could do the same to other 100 watt heads. I know he uses it against a Carvin V3, too, without issues.

I also don’t think there are many as picky as Tremonti
The guy is an amp nut and has like 20 high gain amps
He said he spent 2 years on voicing the amp overdrive channel

I am sure he has way more than 20.

I'd give my opinion, but if it goes against a certain someone's then it's moot...

I have an MT-15 and it's awesome. The only negative to me is the volume taper. If you put an eq in the loop with the db down, it smooths the volume taper out a bunch and it's not so touchy. I actually use it in my band now, replacing my Archon. It's pretty light, small but sounds huge.

Just picked up one myself and can vouch for the touchy. It goes from silent to loud in a half increment.

Is the MT15 cathode or fixed biased?

The LBX is fixed biased, right?

Interesting. I wonder how the feel compares to my Krank Rev Jr. which also runs 6L6's, but is cathode biased.

Can’t say how it compares, but the MT-15 sounds and feels like 50 watt amp. I haven’t cranked it above 11:00 on the master, which is pretty damn loud, but it stays really tight with the bottom end intact. I can’t imagine playing it much louder. Maybe if not miced up, but I don’t play shows like that.

I was just playing my MT15 last week. It's a cool amp, sounds great. I get a slight hum that I don't get with other amps for loadbox +IR recording and as others have said its loud. You can get bedroom volume if your lucky with your fingers lol, cause as said the volume taper is nuts, but not as nuts as my K-tre. I use an eq in the loop and use that to fine tune volume for home use.

This is the only clip I made with that amp so far.
