I'm not on any social media. I have a Megadeth tribute band that want's to start playing live shows. I feel like we have to a social media presence. I was going to start a Facebook page. would this be allowed?

anything is allowed on FB. They send me fraudulent AI generate crap all day long.

I'm not trying to be fraudulent, that's why I'm asking. Is this copyright infringement in someway?
Oh i understand my post wasn't aimed at you.
You know the only reason i joined FB was for the local band scene as i could never open links unless a member.
Now 9 yrs later i got so many pictures and shit on there i don't really wanna get rid of it but they mostly spam my account
with shit i don't ask for and they make managing your preferences so complicated and when you do figure it out
they change the format.
FB algorytms are by design to keep you "engaged" and thats not by choice.

If you want an older audience, Facebook.

If you want a younger audience, Instagram.

If you want high schooler audience, Snapchat

We are playing Rust in Peace in its entirety so I don’t think snap chat is going to necessary. I’m really asking about what are the rules for copyrighted material. Can I use the logo likeness and live performances of my band doing their material?

A Facebook page is totally fine for a tribute band, and it makes booking way easier since promoters usually check socials first. I’m not big on social media either, so I kept mine simple with show dates, pics, and a couple clips. I did Buy Likes once to give the page a little spark so it didn’t look empty, and it helped me get past that awkward brand-new-page phase.

I’m no lawyer but I don’t think Microdeth is a copyright infringement to Megadeth if that’s what you’re asking.

I don't know how Megadeth's lawyers are with regard to policing copyright stuff. They probably ignore tribute band stuff. I think KISS's lawyers are a little more vigilant.

Truth be told, I've bought bands' music before because a tribute band introduced me to it first. I guess I had always heard of or known those songs before, but seeing a tribute band play them made me pay more attention and they go buy the original bands' music. So there's that, if any big bands' lawyers are reading this.

I know nothing about copyright, but I do know you had me at Rust in piece full album in entirety! 😍

A band page is totally fine, and it helps venues and fans find you. Post some clips, gig dates, and photos, and you’ll look legit fast even if you’re not active personally.
Show me you're not a 🤖 mate.

You have 3 days.

OK @Divxgen you've been hanging around up 'til last night and you've had a week to respond, well beyond the 3 days I gave you.

Bump a 7-month-old thread to talk about facebook, and that's your only post? Don't bother to respond in a week when given 3 days?

Yeah na mate.
