 Guys!!!!

I have a JMP1, which i am quite satisfied with, running into the poweramp of a Peavey 5150 halfstack. I wish the tones was slightly thicker, notes had a bit more weight.
Am considering an OD pedal to run in front of the JMP-1 not as a gain or volume boost but just to add thickness.
Andy Timmons and Greg Howe use the Xotic BB preamp in similar fashion.

How well would the JMP take an OD pedal in front, anyone tried this ?
Am deciding between Xotic BB or TC NovaDrive for more options and variety.

Sugest please!
Thanks
Faisal

Don't get me wrong, I know what you're getting at, but it does sound so insane.

OD into JMP-1 into 5150 half-stack. ;)

Put the 5150 away and grab a stereo power amp, if you got the funds for it and another cab. The JM-1 into a stereo power amp and two 412's is about as wide as you can get. Into a mono power section, you can probably add all the pedals you want up front and it won't get in wider, just noisier.

This is my JMP-1 straight into my 9200, no OD or EQ.

An OD will work fine with the JMP-1. I used a Maxon OD-808 and had no issues.

I thought a OD pedal tightensup the tone- the opposite of fat.
When's the last time you went straight into the 5150? That's a fat tone

G0ddamn! That tone's massive. I'm gonna try the same with my JMP1. Br00tz!

Wow, so many replies! :)

I love the 5150, mine has a few issues and needs servicing, for now i use it just as a poweramp. Hmmm......maybe u guys are right. I think i'll borrow an OD pedal and see if it gets me the affect i desire.
I am saving for a VHT/Fryette poweramp and switching system...... :)

if you want fat, thick punchy tone dont get the 2u vht rack poweramps 2502 or 2902

Gonna give my usual suggestion..Randall RT2/50 power amp. Can put different tube types into either side, and switch sides via MIDI. Awesome power-amp

There was one for sale here at RT a few days ago, I believe.
