Put the 5150 away and grab a stereo power amp, if you got the funds for it and another cab. The JM-1 into a stereo power amp and two 412's is about as wide as you can get. Into a mono power section, you can probably add all the pedals you want up front and it won't get in wider, just noisier.
What he said...
Passive pups sound thicker than emgs IMO with the JMP-1, always hated actives with the JMP-1
Here is my JMP-1 rig at the height of my JMP-1 madness... It never sounded thin to my ears...
I loved your tone back then but weren't you using EMG's then?
I remember all that, i've known you along time, your JMP-1 tone was sick.
I was using passvies for most of my JMP-1 insanity and the occaisional EMG guitar, then I slowly movedto EMG's over a period of time... By the time I was an full blown EMG poster child I had switched over to the ENGL brand and was using a Powerball and Savage 120 in stereo and I also used the ENGL 570 alot. as well..
In total I used the JMP-1 from 1998 untill about mid 2004 and I used EMG's with it more in that the last year or so of being a JMP-1 worshiper...
