My fave tones are Cantrell with songs like Would and Dam That River. I've heard that's Bogner, but could be modded Marshall.
My taste exactly  Cantrell recently stated that the heart of the Facelift and Dirt tone is modded Marshall.

I also LOVE the tones on Mindcrime and the more polished sounding Empire (Queensryche of course)
I also read that much of those great AIC tones were recorded with a tele.

And Queensryche is a great call too. You have good taste.

Has to be the opening track of Dokken Back for the Attack!
KISS OF DEATH!
Man.......that to me is the ULTIMATE guitar tone!
And I owned one of his ESP Serpents.
Gotta have me some Lynch!
Just kicks my ass!!

Carcass - Heartwork
Metallica - Justice era Live
S.O.D./Anthrax - Anything from the 80's.
Prong - Cleansing

Absa-fuckinglutely

plus
Motorhead- Orgasmatron
Scorpions - Can't Live without you, one of the most perfect muted, down-picking recordings I've ever heard. Well except maybe for British Steel.
Slayer - Reign In Blood
Metallica - RTL
Mercyful Fate - Don't Break The Oath
Raunchy - Velvet Noise
Testament - Demonic
Saxon -Strong Arm Of The Law
Neurosis - Lost (from Enemy of the Sun)
Napalm Death - Enemy Of The Music Business
Most of Entombed's catalog
...too many 80's ones to mention...

Gary Moore's tone from Victims of the Future

and the grandaddy's of them all Sabbath Vol4 and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

Iced Earth - Most of it !
Believer - 1st two CDs. Super Thick chugfest !
Exodus - Impact is Imminent
S.O.D./Anthrax - Anything from the 80's.
Prong - Cleansing
Dude! My male soulmate! Believers first two cd's! Great call! That sound was thicker than frozen molasses! Great fucking band. Saw them live twice and they killed both times. Highly overlooked band. Heartwork was huge! Sounded like six guitars. S.O.D! I got that album in "85" when I was 15. I didn't believe that it was an actual guitar amp. Sounded like some sort of nuclear generator puking waste into a mike. Definitely one of the most brutal sounds of all time.! I dig all your choices bro.

Don't break the Oath! Awesome dripping wet saturated rythym tone. And that half open Shenker-esque wah on leads! Fuhgettaboutit! And Reign in Blood, perfect boosted Marshall tone.

Some reference tones for me:

Nuno - Pornograffitti
Kings X - Dogman
Scotty Hill - First Skid Row Album
John Sykes - Blue Murder
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Anthrax - Among the Living
Lynch - Back for the attack

Meshuggah - NONE

Fear Factory - Demanufacture

Hypocrisy - A Taste of Extreme Divinity

Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction, Endgame

Metallica - Ride The Lightning

S.O.D. - Speak English or Die

Metallica - Justice for all to Black Album.

I used to listen to Eye of the Beholder cranked on my HiFi and I hated that I couldn't get the same tone on my gear at the time. I didn't know then that the layered guitars are an essential part of it. But they definitely got the EQ right there.

for me would be
Slayer - seasons in the abyss
Anthrax - Only
Cyclone Temple - Why
Helmet - Unsung
Crowbar - All I had I gave
S.O.D. - Speak english or die

Metallica Black album,Hetfield's tone was thick as hell, heavy,to bad the riffs didn't match.
Jerry Cantrell on most anything.
Zakk BLS Battering Ram.

AIC - We Die Young - that opening riff just crushes
Ozzy - Miracle Man - intro to Zakk, his tone killed on those 1st couple albums
Sevendust -Animosity

I'll play along.....

Exodus - Tempo Of The Damned
Testament - The Gathering
Fear Factory - Demanufacture
SOD - Speak English Or Die
Anthrax - Among the Living/Spreading the Disease
AIC - Facelift
Pantera - A Vulgar Display of Power
Overkill - The Years of Decay/Horrorscope
Megadeth - RIP/EndGame
Metallica - MOP/RTL
Deftones - Around the Fur
Grip Inc. - Nemesis
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Machinehead - Through the Ashes of Empires
Tool - pretty much all of it.

Check out OVERKILL in the song COMA off of the album Horrorscope.
That has got to be the MEANEST tone when that guitar riff kicks in after the slow intro.

Yeah, Dime had some vicious tones alright. I prefer Vulgar's sound to Cowboy's. I thought it was warmer and less "transistor" sounding. But I also love "Cowboy's." That sounded pretty gay. Let me re-phrase that. Ah fuck it, you know what I meant!

suuure we know what you mean   yeah vulgar was great too, there's just something about a less warm, filthy metal tone that I enjoy. I think his lead tone on cowboys was the best he ever had consistently. The solo tone (and playing) on "The Sleep" is one of my favorite lead tones of any song, it ranks right up there with the solo tone on "to live is to die" for me from AJFA. Those are my 2 favorite lead tones.

The Black Dahlia Murder - Nocturnal
Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor
Arch Enemy - Anthems of Rebellion

Ironically, all three albums were pretty much done with the same amp.

Nocturnal was a Bogner Uberschall . Im not sure on the others but i don't think Archenemy ever used a Bogner.

Let's not forget his tone on "Trendkill." Absolutely vicious. :worship: He was great. May he R.I.P. I've got a cousin who partied with Pantera a few times. Said Dime was the coolest MF'er you could ever meet. We've all heard that already, but it doesn't hurt to confirm it one more time.

They used mostly 5150/6505s (or 5150 II/6505+s). No clue where you got the Uberschall information from.
