It is true though, most other singlecut style guitars just don't match up well to LP's. . . . I'm not sure why this is since it isn't rocket science.
That's your opinion, and it stops there.

Also, building a guitar isn't rocket science. Rocket science is geared towards people that actually know how to build and make a rocket.

I like both lesters and strats, they both do somthing the other cant do, but I would lean towards a gibson if I had to pick one.
It would have to be a good one though, I've played some beautiful turds in the past few years

For myself I would lean toward Gibson side of the house.
Neither.

There's much better guitar builders out there that will and can make a far superior guitar than these two commercial jokes

And to add in the acoustic area, Martin and Guild are a joke.

Superior in what way?
A poor craftsmen blames his tools.

Strat and les Paul are good enough for every legend that play them...
If the other guys were so good, then maybe all the legends would be playing them.

I don't see Jeff Beck playing a Suhr if you can catch my drift here.

that because legends are old   ... its like they actually think marshalls and vox amps sound good. Every real guitarist knows you need a boutique amp to get the great tones on all those awesome old recordings :D

Look, I hate Gibson as a company. I WANT PRS and others to make better sounding singlecut style guitars. I've owned an SC250 and 2 Stripped 58's and an Anderson Bulldog. They all played great, they were flawless and just made great. When played next next to a good LP I was like "FUCK". My friends 2014 LP Traditional just sounded better than my last Stripped 58, but I hate the 50's neck on the LP. I've about learned my lesson.... I just need to force myself to like the Gibson 50's necks.

Fender. By a long shot.

This is Rig-Talk. The correct answer is Charvel.

Well, I have two Stratocasters with Super Distortions and one with a Suhr Aldrich. Does that count? ;)

^^^It's gotta be something with bolt-on necks and me that just don't gel. Weird.

Gibson. I can do bolt on necks...got a couple Ibbys and an EVH I love, but fuck a Fender and FUCK a Charvel. Friends don't let friends play 80s guitars. :D

I'm more of a strat guy personally. Most people might think I'm weird for saying this but I actually like the sound of the bridge single coil into a high gain amp. I obviously don't play metal but I find that within my band, I can be heard quite well over everything that's going on. It just fits me.

Man,this is like asking which nut do you prefer.. left or right?

For cleans I am in the Strat house in position 2 and 4. That is clean heaven going on right there.
Now, for everything else I am in the Gibson house. When you finally find the "one" Gibby that speaks to you you keep that shit for life.

Man I love a Strat bridge pickup into something like a gained-up Mesa Recto. It's a thing of high-gain beauty.

Wow..........things got a little off road here.
I love super strats as well. But the 2 choices were Straight 3 single coil strat or any Gibby. ;)
Anything else tossed in the mix is null and void. :D

Strats FEEL right....LPs SOUND right.....hmmm....the great conundrum.... ;)

CNC Einstein! Loo it up.

There was no CNC back in the early Jimi, Eric and Trower days. Actual craftsmen did the hard work to make these guitars what they are from the beginning. Learn your history before you jump on the turnip truck.

Also not many folks know that Jimi being a left handed picker never flipped his pickups on his guitars (Fender or Gibson). The 1st string pickup pole became the 6th string pickup pole, and so on. And this is why Jimi had a very unique tone stack to experiment with.

I love it when new guys show up to school us. It's so refreshing when they know it all and can educate all us poor stupid musicians on something we've all done our whole lives and never researched.

Thanks new guys.
