Love the neck, love the pickups, (hate the Tuners lol) , I think it is going to be my favorite guitar even over my Custom Shop Les Pauls.
Do you have those H.A.P. locking tuners? I replaced those on mine with the regular Gotoh locking tuners. H.A.P. are a pain in the ass.

I think so, it is the one that is supposed to lock and unlock when you turn the tuning peg. It does lock, but it didn't unlock until I turned the screw on top with a guitar pick.

Definitely not the best design, they are lightweight, but I would rather have heavy tuners that work well.
don't think an extra couple of ounces is going to cause major problems for 99.9% of us.

Are you listening Ibanez????

Yup, those are the ones. The H.A.P are a little lighter and the knobs are a little smaller than the "regular" Gotoh locking tuners I replaced them with. Direct fit. All the holes matched. If I ever sell it, I'll just put back the original Gotoh H.A.P locking tuners.

Post up a pic of your new ones on your guitar if you don't mind.

Those HAP tuners are an abomination. Good lord, I hate those things.

lol, I don't look forward to changing strings.
That is the whole point of locking tuners, easy string changes.
I will say the adjustable post height idea is a great one. If they could just remove that part of it from the locking part, I think they would kill it.

I actually just e-mailed Sweetwater.
I asked them if when my replacement comes in they could change it to the Gotoh SG381-07 MG-T locking tuners and also change the strings to D'Addario 9-42s and do a set-up to get the action as low as possible without any fret buzz or fetting out.
I don't think the cost should be all that much, probably $100-$150 for the strings & set-up and another $100-$150 for the tuners with install.
They offer a full set-up with Plek for $299, but the fretwork on Prestige models is pretty great, so a Plek would probably be unneccesary.

If you have a local guy it'll probably be cheaper. I would definitely be cheaper lol. 100% no need for Plek on these. Specifically ask them, and get it written down, to make sure that under heavy trem use it returns to pitch every time. About 50% of the dozen+ that I have touched with those Gotoh trems need a bit of saddle smoothing + some other fiddling to get this to happen. Which is weird because I've never had any issues with Gotoh anything before these.

Incidentally (and definitely not trying to jack anybody's thread. I'll get my own lol) one of the best AZs I've ever played is going up for sale this weekend in case anyone's interested. It's an AZ2204NW in Prussian blue. Flawless, brand new.

Luckily I will never ever use a trem, so I am OK there.
As for saving a few bucks, if it is done and sent to me, that saves me a 30 minute drive up and back to get it down locally.
Thanls for confirming about the Plek.

Still make sure about the trem use because even just over-bending with some of these saddle burrs and crap that I've seen, they're going to cause you some issues if not alleviated. If they're charging you, make them do it right. :)

I did break a string on my first bend?

That's your first clue lol. If I break a string I know something is up, for me that just doesn't happen otherwise. Sounds like you as well. Some 1500 and up wet/dry sandpaper, a fine round needle file if you need more, and a wee bit of lube and you can take care of it yourself. But again, if you're paying for it, have them do it. I've also seen some burrs around the string holes on the HAP tuners. So feel around there and if you feel something sharp that could be as issue too.

Thanks, I will let them know.
When I buy Gibsons and Fender I never have this issue?
