So i have a brand new fender wolfgang special got the 37 mm brass block and it doesnt fit properly, it looks like i have to route the pocket more so i can use the bar.. Is this normal
this is normal. most people do not understand this before they buy, the only builder that routes pockets for brass blocks is Gutierrez here on the forum. The rest will either need the block cut, the pocket cut, or you do without full motion.
I would say almost full movement here, about 80% in either direction for floating - enough that i cannot do dimebag pulls on a tremelo but still plenty enough to use a floyd rose tremelo in normal playing.
with wolfgang's though their pockets are really tight and are nothing like charvel's based on my peavey wolfy i had. I have no doubt the OP cant move it much or at all.
Most guitars you'll just lose some range on the bar travel but the trem won't even fit back into the guitar without routing with a big block installed on a Wolfgang, at least the Peaveys. The way the trem block sits there isn't room for it.
+1000. They work in any guitar that is routed for a floyd rose. I've put them in strats, charvels, Kramers and an ebmm van halen. The OP may have the block on backwards. The other thing is you need to get a block that is specific to the type of floyd you're using i.e. Original Floyd Rose, Gotoh, Ibanez Edge etc. I'm fairly confident that evh wolfgang is not an "original floyd rose".
