That's awesome. Eric and I have talked alot. I have a MC also. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it and the new gain mod. The amp has a huge girth to the tone among other things. From what Eric told me the "A" trannies are more modern sounding. That's what mine has. It will rule in white. Just don't touch the power tubes. I have never had an amp that puts -I don't know what it puts, but it does something to the power tubes. The harmonics and pinches are unreal.

The biggest change you can make to help get you into the territory you want gain wise and without the gain mod, is to install a few RFT NOS 12ax7 pre-amp tubes. A little harder to find and the going rate is $60.00 per now but those east germans know how to make pre-tubes. Several different companies have them labeled but they come from germany. Incredible break up to them. Check it out. :checkthisout:

Thanks.I still have a small NOS collection. Sold most of mine off. I had some killer pre and powertubes. I have an NOS Tesla e83cc and a Siemens e83cc triple mica in my MC now. Slot V2 is very particular with pre tubes. Quite a few brands had a bad effect on my rythm channel. The amp hates frame grid construction in that slot. New tung sols or JJ's cannot go in that slot. At least for my amp and Greazygeos. My favorite NOS pre tubes for guitar are the Tesla silver pins, the Siemens triple mica, the french Mazda grey plate, and the old Mullards(although not every amp I have had liked them.) RFT's are always good for guitar also.

You are the second person to say that RFT's are selling for $60 a pop

Good thing I bought a few dozen back when they were cheap. :D
Yeah, I wished I had some other than the pay $60.00 per. Tube store has them, among others. Several other places are sold out.
