Super cool, Scott!

Please tell me what the C45 does, I can't really figure it out.

A tad bit more gain and a shift in mids. Kind of subtle. I typically don’t use it

It (the C45) sounds a tad more Bogner-ish to me when I have it switched on; does it mess with the CF? It does sound a bit smoother.

I just wish I had more control over the HBE channel, I rarely use it because it is (for me) too much - it is like not only a gain boost but a treble boost as well.

It does nothing to the CF stage. It's just a different voltage divider 560k/220k , with an added 680pf treble peaker after the BE gain stage. The non c45 is a 68k/68k voltage divider with no treble peaker

You could change the load resistor on the HBE gain stage to 100k instead of the 100k+220k thats in there now. If that's still too much you could take the bypass cap off the cathode, and or raise the cathode resistor to 4.7k. Lots of things you could do to make it usable for your taste.

IMO, the attraction to C45 is when you roll back your volume control. C45 to me sounds quite a bit more full when the guitar volume is rolled back. But for tightness at full guitar volume, non-C45 sounds better to me.

Hi Scott!
Great sounding amp.
Could you share schematic that you used as a starting point (BE100 before 2016).
I am looking for something that was tested.

Best regards,
Poor guitarist from Poland:).

Nice work!!

That sounds great and the workmanship looks fantastic.

You should be proud

Sounds great! Nice work
.
I can't say i would have used classic tone iron though.

Classic tone is quite good, actually. Friedman uses them for everything, except output transformer.

Personally I would take heyboer over classic tone. Splawn (iirc) switched to classic tone and I think that the earlier models sound better.

I have heyboer in an 18w and a 5f1 and classic tone in a jtm45. The 18w screams. They are still very nice though in the jtm45, maybe I was over critical.

I agree heyboer is IMO the best. Friedman uses heyboer for output. I would say Classic tones are a close second, and for half the cost, hard to beat.

Sounds good Scott.

I'll bet at least part what makes it sound good is that huge antenna sticking out the front of the amp.

This thing took entirely to long to build. And while it's not nearly as tidy as FourT6and2's works of art, I put alot of effort into this thing and making sure I understand everthing I was doing. Just waiting on some panels to make it look proper

Classic Tone 100W Project Transformer
Classic Tone 100W Plexi OT
Classic Tone 3H Choke
12v regulated heaters and switching
WIMA Caps
Carbon Film resistors JJ anad IC filter caps
Valvestorm project chassis and offset headshell
Added Mid control for clean channel as well as used .047uf's in the tone stack
Changed switching to have LED lit for dirty and off for clean (Blue LED's sound better:D)
3 way excursion (M-L-T)

I tried to record it but the combination of my hack playing and crappy cell phone can't capture it proper

I’m in the process of a similar build using the same chassis. Did you ever get faceplates?
