I'll have to agree with Shea on this one :scared:

The tone is great for what it is (was in the 80's) and great if you like that super wet tone... But if you listen closely, the distortion by itself isn't that impressive. But overall I think you did capture "that" sound for sure.

But I don't think that tone says anything great about AxeFX. :scared:

See I disagree about your last line.

A 2u box replaced Zakk's entire studio take with Marshalls dimed and all kinds of post mastering. Like that tone or not the axefx nailed that tone in a package you could bring with you while commuting on a bike.
I think that might be because it's super wet? Most of that tone comes from the effects and reverb to my ears. Around 00:30, listen to the palm mute stuff. It's so saturated and has no dynamics IMO. Sure it captured something, but is that something that great and hard to capture? I'll bet that with no effects, most of us wouldn't like that tone at all.

I'm really not an anti-AxeFX person. I've heard great clips of it. But this one isn't doing much for me although Kudos for Mark's production skills.

Oh, btw - on the original clip - sounds really good except for the phasey de-tune that is making the guitar sound a bit out of tune in places...

I apologize for shitting in your thread. That was too harsh.

Seeing yourself with the master pushed you over didn't it?  :D

Ill be honest and say I am. There is so much hype it makes me want to hate it. :D

I still want to play it though. I was just talking to Kage about how I feel about modelers... If I cant plug straight into it and have it sound exactly like a Tweed Deluxe (just as an example), than what exactly is it modeling? An approximation of that sound?

Is there a reason that noone posts dry low gain clips of it?

That first vid is so bad Im not going to even watch the rest. I can nail that same clean tone plugging direct into just about any USB interface.

I thinks thats because most players on this forum play metal and shred, no?

There is a pretty big mid gain classic crunch crowd here, pretty diverse crowd imo.

Steve

I have so much to live up to.

Mellow out everyone

First of all, I was not posting the HOLY GRAIL of all tones. It was 11:00pm and I was screwing with the AxeFx and thought "hey lets make a clip", I looked on my Mac and found a backing track of a song I half remembered. Then I pasted the track in GB and tried to pull an approximation of the original(also pasted in GB so I could compare, then removed) in 20 mins from the Axe....I've owned it for 3 friggin days with about an hour or two messing with it.
I don't have 3 million dollars worth of recording gear or Ozzy's producer and weeks to spend in the studio.....I did this in 20 or 30 mins...in Garageband. I don't know the AxeFx yet and I am so far from a good recording engineer it's not even funny. This is NOT the tone I am looking for but I thought it would be fun.
I will be working on MY tone and posting(maybe..lol). I think it did a bang up job of capturing the Miracle Man thing especially considered the time spent and my lack of knowledge of the AxeFx.

I have no desire of capturing the tone of a dry Fender amp...it's not my thing and this certainly wasn't my goal in posting this :)

Sounds great - like the original track, going by my memory. Nice job.

Those looking for a dry clip - Peter's clip on here has dry rhythm on it that sounds pretty damn good:

Totally dig Pete's playing but clip wise others have done better tone wise, John C. for example imo has some stupid good semi dirty tones working.
