Sounds great - like the original track, going by my memory. Nice job.

Those looking for a dry clip - Peter's clip on here has dry rhythm on it that sounds pretty damn good:
http://www.fractalaudio.com/experience.html
I went and listened to that because Pete is a badass, but if thats whats passing for good tone.... Gat damn.

Totally dig Pete's playing but clip wise others have done better tone wise, John C. for example imo has some stupid good semi dirty tones working.
Link? I want to be blown away by this thing.

Somewhere around I've got Pete's comments on that clip. I do know it was made with a very early Firmware version. It was done WAAAAYYYyyyy before his Van Halen ( EQ Match ) clip. I think it was one of the first he EVER did !

The only one I am finding now with cleans and not high gain is the EJ one, but anyways....

Is there a reason that noone posts dry low gain clips of it?

I thinks thats because most players on this forum play metal and shred, no?

There is a pretty big mid gain classic crunch crowd here, pretty diverse crowd imo.

I thought that was the Gear Page. :D

I said classic crunch, not polite overdriven tones that blossum with dumble overtures

Oh yeah and I forgot the majority of us havent either passed the bar or completed our residency.

I t6hought it sounded great and pretty damn close to the orig tone ZW was using. Great job!

The clip is nice sounding. Appreciate the effort.

But it doesn't seem alive like other clips Sam did with amps

Many axe clips have the same polite uniform sound like everyone is using the same compressor to keep the unit from clipping

I like john c's recent clip and when ed uses a real amp with it
Steve's old fake peacemaker clip sounded good but I was more reacting initially to how much apparent gain he had achieved with a peacemaker mod, and that potential, versus analyzing how warm or fat the tone was.

No axe clip has yet killed me like many real amps have but I am still curious.
Going with shea on this one.

Im going to flame out of love. :D

Way too wet. Who will be the one to make an AXE FX sound like a straight up Superlead, Tweed Deluxe, Hiwatt DR, or countless amps that keep that shit real.

Congrats, you've nailed 80's processed tone with a modeler. Im unimpressed.
Really? Keeping the shit real? Come now Shea, lets not get all gorilla dust here. Lets talk about keeping shit real when you been around the block long enough to have seen the "real shit" come in and out of vogue a few times.
Ive seen lots of amps come and go around these parts and shit get hyped for awhile and never talked about again. Still rocking that Spider Valve? :D
I was referring about market trends on gear, not what happens on a forum.
And you're barking up the wrong tree...the Spider Valve seen plenty of gigs but went the way of 16 amps that I used between a year and 15+ years. That said, since I got the the Axe/VHT set-up none of this saw much if any use. I still have 3 heads that are older than you, and one of them I had for 30 some years. So, the young, dumb, full of cum routine is cute but dude, you're all about young folk attitude, you know already better than any one that has been through the same shit a few decades ago. Been there done that.
So, have at it...not like I haven't stepped in plenty of shit because I "knew" better.

it's a piece of gear...a freakin' tool. The guys talking more about tools and playing, instead of doing is what the issue is.
And btw...I got to listen to the same shit from Ralph and Kage and they're poster boys now...jus' sayin' before you fucking have an opinion it might make sense to actually have some sort of basis to form it.

I agree with the tool aspect, its retarded to expect someone else to hear things like you do or to tell them that what works for them is wrong...

BTW, what shit did I give you about the AxeFx? The only time that I ever said diddly was at the NY amp show when the FRFR thing wasnt working and sounded terrible. I still wanted to give it a chance and Im damn glad that I did, I cant see myself ever wanting or needing anything else at this point..

I thought it sounded real good until the riff with all the palm muted stuff came in. It didn't sound like a modeler until that part to me. I'd never buy one of these things just because I don't like complicated stuff like that. Just not for me. I'd rather have a simple tube amp with very few knobs and a great sound. That's all I need.

Agreed. :)

How about this one Shea?
It isn't mixed or recorded as well as Samhill's for sure but...
It is real sounding.

It sounds like a SS amp to me. I know I know, Im an asshole.

Samhill's second clip sounds pretty freakin' good though.

I wonder if the AxeFX can do the full on broootalZ. Seems like the Axe does the 80s sleaze in spades, but how does it do with the wugga wugga stuff?

Yes. It can.

Steve

Thanks Steve. I hate you a little bit right now... :gethim: I was secretly hoping for a "no"... I have been trying to avoid this GAS for a spell now...

Nope, not solid state at all...lol

Ok, here is a real comparison Axe-FX vs. Real early 60's Vox AC15. I did this one personally. One side is the Axe-FX, the other is the REAL AC15.

I think it is too close to call as did MANY, MANY others!

This clip sounds a lot better to me. I dont even care which side is the Axe Fx, it just sounds good! The first clip has that harsh top end that reminds of SS.

That first clip has a real germanium fuzz into a Hiwatt setting. It most def has some solidstate going on, but it is from the fuzz set brighter for a really low-fi feel.

The 2nd clip, had I wanted to, I could have made the Axe sound EXACTLY like the old Vox. I also have my old Dual Recto and JMP 100 NMV cloned to a T as well.
