I just sold my Bones yesterday
Amazing build quality, great tones and versatility
Despite all the mojo associated with that amp, I just had to face the facts: not a tone for me, too much of a fast attack and dry tone

The amount of so called mojo associated with that bones amp blew me away. I thought that amp sounded like utter ass and total soulless fizz and fuzz in every clip I ever heard of it. What can I say except that tone is subjective.

Now I bet the build was par none and as top shelf as it gets.
I agree completely. I played one and was not impressed at all.

I respect everyone's opinion here, but "fizz and fuzz" are not what I hear in my amp. I also wouldnt consider it a "dry" sounding amp, say comparerd to the VHT I owned. There arent many good sounding internet clips of the Bones, there's no question about that, but that can be said for a lot of amps. Take the VH4 as an example. I dont hear many great clips of that amp, but most owners swear by them, and I believe for good reason. Tone is subjective, of course. If you basing an opinion about any amp, strictly on what you hear on internet (overcompressed, cheesy unprofessional recordings), i'm not sure what to say.

Maybe I worded that wrong by saying I agree "completely". I didn't hear "fizz and fuzz", just didn't like the amp. It didn't have as much gain as I like, but I don't think that's what it is designed for. Sorry if it came across that I was bashing your amp. What I should have said was that it wasn't for me. If you like it, that's all that matters.

No, no I didnt take it as a bashing. No problem.....like you said, as long as im digging it, thats all that matters. I like the amp a lot, but I still sound like me playing through it, so nothing earth shattering there. It does sound good though, but is probably a bit overkill for a guy no longer playing in a band. I thought when I bought the amp it was going to be a super hi-gain affair, but ive been pleasantly surprised by the clean and mid-gain tones.
I still have interest in checking out the Randall stuff, but ive yet to see anything locally I could plug into and play.

Pretty much agree here
And sorry if my other reply seemed harsh

I don't know if guys that tried it used the bright switch...
On other amps (starting from Fender onwards) that switch i mostly adding ice-pick to a clean channel (designed for dark humbuckers). With the Bones, I felt it was paramount to achieving good tone. It needs to be on, then knobs can be dialed to taste.

Again, I didn't play this amp but I listened to a fair amount of clips back like 3-4 years ago or so when it was the holy grail and that was my take away...

It sounded cold and stiff with a harsh top end to my ears and the clips seemed to always turn me off...

Maybe I just downloaded the bad ones...???

And I agree 100%. The bright switch is a must and adjust from there. It seems lifeless without. It seems to like certain guitar/pickup combinations more than others. My ESP with an Aldrich in the bridge is unstoppable, while my Les Paul with the 57+ not so much.

I wish when people quote they only quote the last comment and not the whole thing, gets annoying having to skip past all the same txt

Well, having spoken to Mike, Ola, Jason and other Randall associated people on several occasions, I'm sure Mike won't let Randall release anything if it's not on par with his requirements. It's a bit sad to see that the delays keep on getting added, the Satan should have been available for a long time already imho. I actually had Ola in my shop to introduce the Satan amp, that was over a year ago. Was the first production model not ok? I don't know, can't say, but it sure toke a long time to get these shipped out.

And, I must admit I'm not to fond of all these signature heads being released (or at this point, developed). Maybe it would have been better to go gradually, maybe not put out all the artist collaborations at once, or from the very beginning, who knows how long it will be before there's an actual amp...
