yawn...., another "I've never seen such a thing" rant. Does anyone remember when Ibanez had NO customer service-at all? do they now? Anyway my point being if you didn't like Ibanezs quality you didn't buy one. I don't care for HCs forum so I don't go there. I'm not discouraging ones right to voice their displeasure but people acting like " I've never been so insulted" come off as histrionic drama queens.

Thanks and I'm glad you got the point of my message.

It indeed looks like my friend Jay Mitchell is moderator of. This will definitly help cure the FAS ulcer. If I had to vote for another moderator, instead of Jay, it would be Sixstring. He knows and has proven how to have and make respectfull conversations even with the more problematic members.

Cliff thanks for intervening.

I've found it best to simply remove myself from all of it. I can find out what I need to find out by lurking over there now. I've had several PMs from the mods and the man himself, one of which none of you would believe was actually written by the owner of the company. I mean, incredibly horrible. I'm keeping that one under wraps - no sense letting anything out of the bag anymore. I've found that, as much as the FAS troops are diehard fanboys to the product, they're also diehard mongrels in any fight regarding online presence and opinion. So f*ck it. I'm over it, and above it :D

Peace,
Mo

Ventura,

Thanks for the warning! Lets see if I will get the same treatment. :gethim:
And I was honestly thinking they were changin their behaviour on the forum.
Routines are so hard to change.....

Greetings

I'm a complete outsider to this. Having just read this whole thread it is apparent to me that this "electronpirate" fellow is doing Fractal Audio nothing but a grave disservice. I'm not sure if he's actually employed by Fractal, but he shouldn't be. If he isn't, I'd would ask him to cease and desist any communication where he states or implies he is associated with the company.

I dumped my Ultra to get a II. I don't post over there much and haven't gotten into all the colon-hurt about the roll-out. I just want one. But at this point, I've gotten past wanting one. If I get my coupon code and still have my "Axe money", I'll buy it. But in the meantime, I'm shopping gear: amps, a Les Paul, who knows? I would imagine alot of folks have moved on. And I think since I kept my distance from the whole thing, I've been able to take an objective look at it and I have to admit, it would feel "odd" to give them my money. But I would. And I'd feel odd. But I wouldn't care 'cuz I just want one. But they shouldn't treat people like, ah fuck it. No what I mean?

Not sure if Jay is a moderator over there any more (as of a couple of days ago).
I wonder what prompted them to remove his Moderator privileges. We'll see if the censorship drops with him no longer a moderator.

Here's a bit of my experience and opinion on the forum and the moderating team. I'm sorry it's sort of long and mostly a rant.

[rant]
I just don't understand how a business owner of specialized audio products like Jay Mitchell, a highly qualified audio engineer and businessman, is incapable of being humble and courteous to those who don't share his views or match his level of expertise. How can a man so knowledgeable and seemingly very intelligent can be unable to adapt himself to suit the level of understanding of whoever he is talking to without having to resort to overly technical jargon, petty little word picking games, sneaky insults and e-cred boosting tactics. Is he that important in the world that he has to act so condescending and childish?

I mostly stopped posting on the Fractal forum. My most recent comments were on the Canada shipping screw up. Otherwise, the last time I asked for help on that forum was last year. I had an issue with my Passive Atomic Reactor Cab I thought sounded like crap. It turned into a 9-10 pages long circus where the Jay Mitchell and some others took turn feasting on my every word rendering the whole thread a see of wasteful posts with a some valuable info here and there. I was very upfront about having little to no experience with the AxeFX,recording and recorded tones in general. He could clearly see I was having issues getting my point across. I was very polite throughout the whole thread while Jay and some others displayed a lot of attitude and little professionalism. I was told I had to pay my dues to earn respect. Pay my dues ? To whom ? For what purpose? All I needed was a bit of help figuring out my problem and hopefully learn in the process.

I ask a perfectly normal question in the most polite way expecting some understanding and a professional attitude. Some of these members were chosen by Fractal for their knowledge and ability to provide support to the community as well as keep things in order. Instead of an intelligent discussion, the thread turns into a war of posts from members and moderators hell bent on self-serving their fragile ego and boosting their e-Cred in the most rude and unprofessional possible way and I have to pay my dues ?

Keep in mind that the Support Section on Fractal's official website first tells the us to look online for information then second to ask the forum and only contact Fractal as a last resort if all else fails. Since their support will ignore most request for help, the only other medium of support is their forum but they are the mods are the first to dismiss it as an official source of support which makes no sense because they are the only source of support.

Finally, Jay Promptly went on put words into my mouth about things I never said just so he could have the last word and prove his "point". I never cared to bother replying at that point. Many members provided help in a tactful and polite way. Those who were in position to solve my issue showed little patience, a very jaded attitude and contempt towards me. In the end, I figured it without their help but it took me a very long time.

Jay has been having this issue with way too many people on too many different forums and was warned or called out on it too way often to mention over the years and yet seems to think everyone else is the problem. The forum does a very good job at alienating their potential and current customers, especially their less knowledgeable ones like me.

[/rant]

This was the most frustrating experience I had over there but things were always more or less the same whenever I'd post something. Now when I have a problem, I just deal with it and hope one day i can learn enough to understand how to work around it.

As for Scott Peterson, he's good in my books! I feel people tend to confuse his enthusiastic nature for an hidden agenda. At least that's the way I see it. All I see is a guy eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others and getting heat for it. Call me naive but I've never seen any post that would lead me to believe otherwise.

As for the launch. People should go play guitar and wait. We'll all get one eventually. Patience is a virtue

Sadly, I've found myself browsing guitar dealer pages looking at other amps. I don't have anything negative to say about Fractal. The only thing I will say is that sometimes I think silence about a product's release can actually create more pandemonium than if Fractal were just completely honest about the situation. If Cliff announced that they are overwhelmed and folks might not see units for a year, they would be upset but would get over it. Right now you have people with wads of money waiting for an amp they have wanted for weeks.

It is like being stuck in traffic with no clue when the cars will start moving again.

So this is the guy that has caused so much tension over on that forum?

I would be willing to guess that the little debate Cliff and Jay had over some very technical speaker science was what caused Jay to take his little red wagon and go home.

Cliff corrected Jay several times (or at least made the statement that Jay was wrong...whoever was wrong is beyond me).

This episode took place 3-5 days ago and now all the evidence of said encounter is gone.

I will miss you Jay.... :D

That's the man!

Although I don't know what happened for him to lose his moderator status. I haven't been monitoring the Fractal Forum for quite a while.
My understanding is that he is a valuable asset to the development of certain aspects of Fractal Product as an outside collaborator. I could be wrong though.

The man is obviously not an idiot given his credentials. That at least cannot be denied. I know Jay likes to contribute to the community and he should. His experience and knowledge are very impressive. The only flaw is his delivery. He could be a total class act with a different attitude. It puzzles me why he needs to be so rude and condescending. He just seems to rub everyone off the wrong way. Instead of being appreciated for what he can provide, people are hating on him instead.

I don't hate the guy, I just have a problem with how he behaves online hidden behind his computer screen.

he is probably at a guess close to 60 .. ..explains a lot of why he cant get down with the djent or brotalz.

Ya, this is the bullshit weirdo stuff that just makes my head spin over there. I mentioned the word "obfuscation" a few times on that forum and was met with militant opposition. It was for this very reason I was losing my shit - they just denied and hid everything that touched a sore spot. WHATever....!! ;)

Now as for this Jay character... I'm sorry, yes he has cred and is obviously an intelligent guy, but THAT'S the kinda GUY that's keeping my tattooed, music drenched, after party laden, years of abuse now rehab'd ass in question about MUSIC?!?!?!?! There are 2 types of cred in my books, his is book smart, mine is life. I'm not sure what I'd have done ever having met this man face to face with an attitude like he'd exhibited online.

Sorry, that was just too much... I guess I'm used to, you know, "music industry" cats

My money says his real life personality is a little scaled back from his online persona. :gethim:

I can't help but remember the term "poindexters" being used as a description of the folks over on FAS.

How very apropos.

Mo :D

Played an axe II today
Not for long or very loud but it was cool
And the collection of amps and pedals at tone merchants is amazing

Thanks Rob!

Yeah, he definitely seems to know what he's talking about, but I've seen more gracious delivery in a prison rape.

The guy definitely comes off like an arrogant cocksucker, and I think they're probably better off without any more arrogance on that board.
