OK, I covered the fretboard with "Frog" tape, broke out the 0000 steel wool...and

Don't use steel wool. That stuff will get all over your pickups and all the little bits of steel can scratch the finish as well. Use 3M sanding sponges.

Get the 1500 grit, works great.

I use this stuff from planet waves. One of the sheets lasts for two shinings, there are plenty in the pack, and the packaging can be used to protect the fret board.

I sed to use it too. Very nice!

But I switched to Micro Fine 65 Fret Polishing Cloth. I like it even better

I use the stubbly hair on the back of my ballsack.

Steel wool, like previously stated. I just tape off the fretboard, like suggested. Works very well..

This is it, right here Best stuff I've ever used, just rub the fretboard with it and then go over it with a cloth. No taping or anything else.
