And there won't be a foot switchable effects loop. I must be crazy to think every amp should have one

I just hope it isn't in the gigantopithicus headshell.

The switch to the left of the power plug....is that a half power switch?

When I played the proto it was in a smaller head box.

NICE! Really looking forward to this one!

Thx for the updates!

Pretty cool, how did you get to play a prototype?

Dave said last night it should be $3499

At that price, no thank you for me personally.
He said it really isn't that much of a cost difference in making a BE 100 from a BE 50 ....but the BE50 has more features than the 100.

Yeah. This is true. Look at any ampmaker that offers not a 50 and 100 watt version of reit amps. Usually only a couple hundred dollar difference in price.

That's because the cost to produce really isn't very different at all... you save a couple bucks in components and the transformers may be marginally cheaper but that's about it.

I happened to be at Tone Merchants and Rob had it setup. We jammed on it for a bit.

Any thoughts on how it sounded relative to BE100, SB etc?

Yeah, I agree. Making a 50 watter isn't much cheaper than making a 100 watter. Just was hoping this one might be lower priced.

I would love to see Friedman offer a 50 watt one channel amp with just the high gain HBE channel and a FX loop at a lower price point. I personally don't need all the bells and whistles that make them much higher priced.

But most people want the options and Dave listens which is exactly why he builds the amps he builds.

Fuck that. I was thinking like $2999 or something. Might as well buy the whole 100w.

$3k... $3.5k.... not much difference. It might as well be $10k. It's way out of my price range.
Besides, I don't need it. I just got a brand new Katana head!
:D

Nah. You'd then have to get the clean modded and add the Thump and Response knob, etc. Plus with the revoiced BE/HBE channels I assume that'd be a mod as well.

NOT that there is anything the really NEEDS to be modded on the BE-100 if I am honest. Tonally there should be some noticeable variation between the 2 amps.

I have to wonder if the new voicing and Thump/Response will make their way to the 2018 BE-100 though...

Now...it was said that Sweetwater was getting the exclusive on this for the last quarter of the year? I'm assuming that by international, that includes us north of the border?

Regardless, it is probably going to be a long wait for these anyways.
