Friedman Phil X vs Ceriatone AJ -Video

Looks you had the AJ going into the Soldano cab, and the Phil X into the Marshall. Have you swapped the cabs and retested? ….Personally, I’d be more about the Friedman

That's right, you got it. I actually prefer the Phil X into the Soldano V30 cab, on the lower voltage setting. Sounds more punchy and alive. Which is weird, because I like almost everything else into the Marshall GB cab.
Doing it the way I did made it easier to dial them in close.
I'll swap em around and do another recording in the next day or two. I'm with ya on the Friedman. Honestly, whether or not it sounds better in some scenarios, it's such a pleasure to play, at any volume, with a great effects loop. Doubt I could get rid of it.

Splaining the Ceriatone effects loop, it's placement in the signal chain of the amp is before the dirt happens:


I'll make some clips of the Ceriatone in the Marshall cab later. It's def a blast to play. Digging it.

Cabs and speakers make the biggest difference in tone of the whole signal chain, so using two different cabs drastically taints this experiment.

I don’t know what the Ceriatone one he’s selling is spec’s like but Dave Friedman said the actual amp is an almost completely stock 70s Marshall Super Bass converted to Super Lead specs (a simple and common change).
