The Bottle Rocket is a BEAST of an amp. Super aggressive, great feeling, and super responsive to volume knob roll off.

Seriously, the demo's don't do it justice.

Such a nice amp.
How DARE you, Sir??? LOL! I kid.

The Bottle Rocket is the dogs bollocks. Can't recommend it enough for what you're looking for. The Quick Rod is stellar as well and can be had in really nice condition for $1200 used all day.

Another vote for the Henning Bottle Rocket. I will post a NAD this weekend and will do my best to include a clip of the Bottle Rocket. Here is an older clip I made last year when I was testing the prototype.

Man, that sounds killer!!!!

I just recently bought a Runt 50 and I am really liking it, but that Bottle Rocket sounds fucking amazing!!

If you can find a used smallbox go for it. I thought k I got my combo for around 2k I think they are 3k new.

That's just it, don't see used very often.

Pretty sure there's a couple on GC's used section for 2k

The Marshall 20 watt jubilee head or combo are pretty damn nice as another option. New are about three same price as the used amps you're looking at. Or the street rod. You said you were wanting lower wattage.

Dude the Marshall Jvm 205h will do the same thing as all the previously stated amps will do and will do it just as well. I got mine used for $600.

I'm looking into that a little further.. EL34's too.

I've owned two 205's. Great amps, but a bit noisy and not as aggressive.

That's because it IS amazing and Steve is such a kid ass dude. Honestly, the Bottle Rocket is probably THE best amp tone I have ever had and you KNOW how much I love my Quick Rod.

As I said before, thank GOD they cover different enough ground even though being rooted in Marshall type origin. I could not see myself not owning both.

I have yet to hear a bad video of any of Steve's (Henning) amps.

If cash is a factor, I assume you'd be looking at the used market. Splawns can be found just over the $1k mark all day long. You'd be hard pressed to get a better tone for that money. I'm sure before long you'd be able to find a Runt 50 for that price once the impulse buyers start unloading.

Cash isn't really a factor. I am just hesitant to spend $1799 on a Runt 50, when I'd rather have a Smallbox, which I believe are way overpriced.

I made an offer on a Quick Rod on Reverb, we'll see what happens. He's asking about $300 too much, and $100 of it is shipping.

Honestly I'm on the fence about getting rid of my Quickrod. This thread made me play it side by side to the Runt.

Well....it's a tough choice if I had to choose just one....

If anyone is curious about gain levels on the Runt:

Seems to me that the maxed out gain on the Runt is on par with the Splawn's gain maxed out on Gear 1/OD1. Which is still a healthy amount of gain.

Yeah, that is plenty of gain for my needs.
So from a feature set, who wins? Runt or Quick Rod?

$1300 shipped is right. I see he lowered it $200.

I wouldn't let mine go for less than that.

Naw man... Get yourself a Driftwood Mini-Nightmare. I got one a month ago and you can't beat the options for the money.

Feature-wise, the Quickrod wins hands down for maybe $200 more than the Runt 50.

3 gears, OD1/OD2, solo boost, adjustable effects loop. Ups the ante more if you have old/new switch, Drop B+, mid cut, etc.

That's what I figured. I think the Quick Rod with the BE-OD on the clean will get your Friedman itch scratched.
