Full mix clip of a BAT modded JMP2203 vs. stock w/ a Chiron

I love what old school marshalls or boosted marshalls do for music like this. Amps with roo mich gain sound fizzy and less chewy to my ear. So i would say any of the Marshalls.

I dig that tune BTW, great old school feel to that and I am all aboit those drums. Natural sounding! If you used samples then you did so tastefully. It actually sounds like a kit vs a series of over compressed samples with a snare that sounds like a floor tom.

That was awesome! Love me some thrash tones.

I actually think I liked the DRRI and BAT best, both boosted and unboosted. I would be just fine with all three amps, but those two stood out to me.

Good stuff.

All sound great but the BAT stands out both unboosted and boosted. I preferred all of them boosted. Thank you for comparing!

Great tone across the board. My personal preference is the un-boosted BAT mod. Gain sounds just a bit finer and smoother? Boosted stock amp is killer - gain sounds a bit 'grainier' to my ear. No judgment - observation only. Great clips!!!

Wicked cool! Were the settings on the amps where they were for the recordings?
Yes, pics taken while it was recording. Notes for the rear:
- 2203 had NFB and Depth dimed.
- Recto was Bold Diode, but those settings don't matter to the mic.
- IIB+ had the Limit on 0 and Presence on 4.

Thanks :) It was a real (nice) kit with real mics. The whole album is analog with the exception that we did use plugins for the bass.

From all the feedback here & elsewhere the unboosted BAT looks like the overall winner. I guess now I'll need to run a comparo of it with these vented T75s, vs. my 2001 V30s, vs my 1960TV GB cab.

I've got one of @FourT6and2 's Bay Area Thrash mods on a '79, decided to see how it'd reamp to one of my songs. The way this one is set up it still has a stock input as well so I was able to compare the mod to stock boosted with a Chiron (klone). Anyway, check it out.

This was my favorite of the 4

Looking forward to your shootout

Recto wins for me and doesn't have to be boosted imo. Sounds fuller. Wider spectrum. The Marks always come across as too congested to me. Narrower. Almost boxy. But that's me. 2203 sounds killer though for sure and tighter than the Recto
