A guitar buddy and me went to see them at the Myth. They came out with "Night Songs" and I acutally never heard of Cinderella before that night but I'll tell you, I will never forget the tone and groove. You could see the hotplates light bright as hell. Seriously though one of the best concerts I've ever seen. The guitar tone was fuckin smoking that night.

Yep! They're really, really good live!!! I've seen them 2 or 3 times and walked away feeling that way everytime.

Ever go to the Tattoo parlor after the show? :D

HAHA, they look like a bunch of greaseballs from Staten Island.

DUDE!! Everybody from the 80's looked like that. It is all show anyway.

Hence the term sleaze rock. And of course Staten Island is one big landfill filled with loud hairy Italians with terrible fashion sense.

Present day guidos resemble this.

He looks pretty happy here with this '58 or '59. Wonder if he still has it?

How Eddie could not hear how superior his tone was with that Les Paul is beyond comprehension. I mean right after he plugged that in, he sold all his superstrats, switched to Les Pauls permanently and has never looked back.

FWIW, i was never a huge fan of Eddies tone. Sure i like it, but it was never my favorite. I like a heavy tone like Schenker since i was always into metal bands of the 80's like Maiden, Dio, Priest, etc. It was all the fag hair bands who happened to be sporting Charvels that i was never into. :D ;) Oh, except for George Lynch........and Jake E Lee.......and....maybe a few more. :)

Iron Maiden played Ibanez stuff in the early 80s   Now they play basswood fenders

I almost forgot. Eddie did in fact dump all his older guitars at one point and had Ernie Ball make him a guitar that had a curiously similiar shape to a Les Paul. Things that make you go HHHMMMMMMMM.  ;)

More basswood mr mahagony superstrat   Who used basswood first in a superstrat???? VAI BABY!!!!!!! Where did they find the dealer to get the basswood?? The redneck swamplands of NJ!!!!!

Just finished GOW with the kid, fuck that game was short

Yeah, Ibanez stuff that ripped off Gibson. And the last time they had great tone was on Powerslave.

I thought his older beat up Boogie body guitars were Swamp Ash?

This is turning into a great :poke: thread!

I think his old guitars were ash of some type. The guys on the Metro board, who are totally obsessed with this, seem to think the first album was probably recorded with the '65 strat (which would have been alder) with a humbucker and different neck and that the black and white striped guitar became his main guitar right around then but wasn't done in time to be used on the album. Who knows? I'm not really that big of an EVH freak. George will probably chime in and say that even Eddie with his crappy tone decided that alder was even crappier sounding than the crappy wood he would use for his next few crappy albums full of crappy tone.

This is turning into a great :poke: thread and I'm having fun with it. And look, no racist comments or death threats or karate beatdown challenges yet. But we can always pull those out if we need them.

Overlooked was Scott's great quote about Les Pauls only being good for playing Cinderella covers. I :hys: at that one.

No fucking way bro, saw they open for DLR in 86 and after the 100th guitar spin I wanted to donkey punch those assclowns...........they made the bass player for Ratt look cool

Scott's the only Cinderella fan here i think  If i played Cinderella covers i wouldn't admit it in public. Cinderella = just one more crappy thing to come out of Filthadelphia for the world to deal with.

and not alder either. :)

Yeah, but you said EVH had crappy tone and that you dislike alder. Eddie didn't choose alder. Must mean alder sounds killer.
No he has crappy tone! Make no mistake there! He looks like a white buckwheat in the last LP pic...

Honestly the best sounding guitar I have is a 82 USA Epiphone single pickup SG......it's swamp ash. The 2nd best was my 82 Flying V which was swamp ash with a maple top.

I've never had any alder guitars that sounded right....

I will admit with a little money throw my way that the deepest tone I have is my Hamer but that is like driving a 1969 Fury III in a road race :aww: :D

This thread fucking rules

I believe the answer to your question about who used basswood first would be one Mr. Allan Holdsworth on his Charvel super strat.

And to danyeo, my memory is hazy but which "fag hair band" was it that the hack Holdsworth played in? :D

If Rudy S, the bass player from Cinderella, and Vinnie Vincent ever hit the stage together the fucking thing would collapse from the crotch shacking alone

OMG, there it is, the fabled Basswood Vai guitar from the backwoods of the Pine Barrens.

And even Arodonna knows where da tone is.

Hey Danny, thanks for the shots and how to for setting up my LP for somewhat low action and staying in tune by at least a half step.

This shot you sent helped me alot!!!

And yes it's true, EVERYONE buys a Gibson because of it's tone, it has NOTHING to do with image, marketing, trends, and or peer pressure.

No thanks George. We have plenty of termites. Just hardly any mosquitos. Let's put it this way..... in 22 years of living in California I have been bitten by mosquitos less times than I used to get bitten in one night in Illinois. And that is why alder sounds good in my hands. My blood and skin are not West Nile virus, dengue fever and malaria tainted.
Yeah the year I lived out there I wasnt bit at all....came back to reality. Nothing like swamp level humidity, mosquitos the size of pidgeons and the good buisness of alder wood export to wake up to everyday.

What was your address again?

I know all to well. We would camp out in the Pine Barrens and go riding all weekend. There's miles and miles of fire roads in Southern NJ and it's all white sand, not many rocks at all. Most everyone used paddle tires.

Look there, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's a gay hair fag, NO it's danyeo on his old super modded Yamaha Blaster.
