So I finally got my Suhr Reactive load (long story) and am ready to get nuts experimenting. I have the Wall of Sound plugin with the 2 cabs it came with (free) and was wondering if anyone could recommend some good cabs to purchase for metal/thrash/jug jug jug stuff?

I know of the Ownhammer cabs and will probably grab a few of those. I was wondering if anyone has ever used Recabinet 5 by Kazog? Also I read that Pete Thorn uses a IR plugin called Mellowmuse IR1A which I can't seem to find a whole lot about from googling. I see they advertise "CPU efficient zero latency convolution" which sounds pretty good to me. Please drop a line if you have tips/advice with IR plugins. Thanks!
The Ownhammer Mesa Traditional IR's are great if you want to shug the strings. It's also great for other stuff too. When using my Mark V head I always use the Ownhammer Mesa Traditional IR's. Almost never use my trusted SM57 anymore, but I sometimes do blend the real SM57 with the Ownhammer Mesa Traditional IR's. It sounds great.

Torpedo sounds pretty good in my opinion.... but mic your cab up and compare the tones and it will be clear who the real winner is. I am all in with real cabs and mics. They just sound better to me. Maybe the difference is like a good mic pre vs a built in interface but the difference is there.

I don't think you can tell the difference.

In a mix you are probably right and that is all that matters. Back to back when I compare, the real deal is less fizzy and that is how you can tell. The Steve Stevens vid clearly identifies that when you compare his torpedo tone with his BAE preamp and mic'd cab. Honestly though, when you think of how bad many records sounded back in th 80's, IR s are hardly going to handy cap your recording. They sound good.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to grab the Mesa Traditional IR's now. I tried Recabinet for about an hour this morning before work and was having a blast. There is so many things to tweak and not enough time ;)

I totally agree on mic'd is better but in my case of apartment living I just flat out stopped recording once I had kids. But now I can at least replicate the same sound/tones with ease compared to my mic'ing days. Now I just need to stop fucking up once I hit record lol.
