Gear plans 2026

Ok, I actually have big plans to work on my studio (read: sunroom). I'm getting new windows which will allow for both temperature and humidity control. I need to get all of my instruments into this one space. I need to set up the space so that it's user-friendly with minimal barriers to play/record. And I'll be super happy when that happens.

In terms of what gear I'll buy? Probably 17 more Les Pauls that I don't need, probably some pointy guitars, probably sparkle guitars. And I'd love to find a good deal on a Mark V 90 with a road case.

Finally get the guitar I bought last week. I kinda wanted it this year, but whatever.

Is two and a half weeks an acceptable amount of time to wait for a guitar that is 7 hours away?

Build a new effects loop and test it in the prototype Abaddon circuit, and then build serial number 001!

Gear wise I'm always on the hunt for a Randall T2HH which is my dream amp. They're so elusive though.

I'd love to load my straight cabinet with a quad of either Eminence Karnivores or G12H30 70th Anniversaries.

I was on a buying/selling spree for the last few years leading up to my early retirement.

I have a few more things to sell, but I plan to enjoy the gear I have now, and upgrade my music software as new versions are released.

Not really sure. It's been a surreal year financially - big promotion into engineering management of a large cap tech firm that came with lots of equity, just in time to be the second best performing stock in the S&P500 AND spin off another company that became the best performing stock in the S&P. In other words I was forced by company compensation policy to take an absurd risk I'd never take if I controlled my position, and it came out beyond perfect. I'm suddenly asking what would happen if I moved my retirement up to the day my daughter graduates college, or hell, maybe way sooner than that. Its' a huge blessing but upends a lot of plans.

I'm space limited at the moment. I've got about 24 guitars and space for about 17. Figuring out which 17 is a bitch though.

I've got a new band starting up, and the direction is pretty up in the air but should be easy enough to cover with stuff I've got.

I'm digging my X88IR which I've had since they came out but hadn't used much. The Fat and Bright switches take it places the SLO never went.

My acoustic - a Guild F55-e Maple - is jacked. Sunken top. doesn't want to intonate right. It's at the luthier's. I need to give them a call. But I think I'm going to go buy an Adirondack (H)D-28 and ditch the Guild.

Maybe just a 112 Bad Cat Cab for if I ever play out .....

This get an analog delay, another chorus and a Geisha Drive mini.

Try and stay focused on not getting another Gibson or Gibson like guitar and Marshall like amp. Trying to find a Gretsch or Tele/Strat that I like that’s not crazy in pricing. Possibly an old school Fender/Supro type combo.

That being said, if a really nice Humbucker LP or SG, at the right price, steps in front of me by happenstance, it’s coming home (I only have V’s and a LP Special)😉

well I was thinking just strings and picks but then I found myself looking at the Wangs 2204 this morning. which is ridiculous cause i just sold a ceriatone 2204 and I still have 3 2204 style amps. so hopefully just picks and strings lol I’d like to find an amp plugin I jive with as much as my amps, but so far nothing, but there’s a ton I need to try

First order of business will be finishing my rack (for now). I've got a pedal drawer and a Voodoo Labs Hex switcher coming in the next week. That'll get me situated nicely and I can build from there.

I need to get a new pickguard cut for my SG to fit the Jaydee Old Boy pickup I bought. Aiming to have the guitar done mid-February. I also need to get a few other guitars back into working condition.

In terms of new gear the big thing I'm looking to do is hop into Synergy. I'd also like to get a Yamaha SPX90 (or 900).
