i understand wanting to play live, but cant they do that in smaller venues as solo artist, or "Alex and Geddy", or as PanterA should have done, start a new band with capable musicians where they can do an extended "tribute" set every night to scratch that itch if it wasnt really about money??
Yeah I’d prefer that too. Not calling it Rush, but it’s not my business.

I'll wait to see some show reviews or YT videos before deciding if I want to make a trip to see them. I have played in a Rush tribute before with a drummer who made up his own parts and it made my blood boil. And I have played in one where the drummer nailed it every time exactly as on the album (studio or live version), and I loved it. So I am a cork sniffer. But for what these tix will cost, I want some assurance of satisfaction. Flame away.

They may very well just want to get out there and play again and good for them. Is she the best drummer they could find?.....I don't know but I'm not sure she is up to Neil Peart's standards, I could be wrong I don't know much about her.

Those prices for tickets are kind of a Fuck You to the fans though.

well, she's no Bun E. Carlos,

/S

but Jeff Beck approved

Last time I saw Jeff Beck, Vinnie Colaiuta was on drums and I think JB had a cellist too. IIRC, Sting calls Vinnie "the thief" because he steals every show. And he did on this last JB show too. So I don't know that JB's choice of a backing band means that much. He's not gonna work with hacks, but he was never playing to a Rush nerd audience either.

Complete GUP Tour concert September 21, 1984 Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens.

God i hate these gatekeeper, purist, sticks in the mud that piss and moan every time an old rock band comes out of retirement and replaces the dead guy.
We heard all that shit with the Pantera thing. Yes, they lost the irreplaceable, superstar member. Do you just want the rest of them to bury all of their material in the ground and let no one perform it ever again for anyone? Fuck that, these artists earned their rights to celebrate their own music however they feel, whenever they feel, without the approval from a bunch of people who couldn't even fathom having that kind of talent. Sit at home and pout if you don't like it. No one is forcing you to go. You would rather NO ONE ever get to hear that material live again for what? to satisfy YOUR ego? because they made a decision without asking you? fuck off with that. Geddy and Alex are 2/3rds of rush, and can do as they please regardless of how they said they felt when Neils death was fresh and the greiving process was in its early stages. Things change.

"RU$H" ??? oh blow me.

The world runs on capitalism. I hate it too, but thats the reality. If there are offers, they'll eventually be entertained. We've seen it countless times. we'll see it countless more. It doesn't change or take away from what they've done in the past. It doesn't "tarnish their legacy" except to gatekeeper, purist, weirdos on the internet. If you piss and moan about what they are charging, that is a deeper issue that doesn't always factor out to simply artistic greed, as we've seen recently with the live nation / DOJ decision.

Shit, Geddy released a book and a solo album years apart and went on "signing tours" across north america where if you wanted to meet him and get a signature you HAD TO either buy the book or the album and thats all he would sign. So its not like good old fashion music business capitialism is new to these guys.

your favorite artist IS REPLACEABLE.
I am replaceable, you are replaceable, everyone and everything is replaceable.
The rest is just human ego.

Seeing Phils band perform a set of all pantera songs at harpos was a fucking blast.
Seeing half the original line up performing a set of all pantera songs, with a bunch of other like minded old fuckers yelling out every word with the same intensity as back in the 90s, was a fucking blast.
Seeing Gwar without oderous is still fun.
Seeing Death to All with Gene Hoglan and Steve Digorgio doing classic Death material with a "Replacement Chuck" was a killer show.
Seeing the footage from the Children of Bodom tribute show with original members and a "Replacement Alexi" sounded great.
shit, even seeing The Misfits with literally anyone under the sun playing those songs loud and sloppy is a fun time.

maybe its just me, but this shit isn't THAT fucking sacred. i'm just a fan, not the authority on the decisions of the artists.

Hopefully JimAnsell3 will chime in soon for the final word...

Listen to the coda of "FouFou" on False Truth, and you'll understand how quickly a decision can be made.

She can deliver Neil's parts, verbatim, consistently, while also providing a woman's warming presence in the face of the unending agony of grief Alex and Ged likely experience, especially at these new "Rush" gigs.

I'm stoked for all of them and the fans.

FUCK the naysayers.

Bingo!

As I've always said it's just rock n roll, it ain't sacred. If you don't like it, stay home.

My first concert ever was 1981 Moving pictures tour. The year they peaked! My biggest concern is not that she does every fill exact but that she retains Neil's feel in the songs. She may even bring new nuances to the table,... I hope so!

I am not paying the $ they are asking tho. I will attend every show from my recliner on You tube IPA in hand! Well, not every show Lol, but whatever gets posted :p
