i'm happy for him. he's set his family up for generations, he's a founding father of heavy metal as we know it, he's had a long run, stop while you got some time and enjoy your life. Fuck the road. Fuck the public eye.
Also, yeah his voice is rough, and the young, energetic, flawless, hired guns he uses on tour are a nice way to show us all how old and tired he is by comparison.

I think it is great and he deserves it as do a lot of these bands. Either die with your boots on like Lemmy or decide to break away and enjoy more than your career.

I still wish Hetfield and Mustaine would do a song together. I think it would be badass.

Dave is an enigma to me. Comes across as a colossal douche yet folks say he’s great. Saw him on gigantour fucking with dream theater on stage. Walking around talking to people. Coming out and sitting in the audience watching the show. Making it a point to get near someone with megadeath gear on… I don’t know….

In other words he’s a narcissist who is nice to people who praise his music and buy his merch. As he said in the press release it’s millions AND millions of fans
Even The Rock in his wrestling Prime only had to say “…and the millions” (damn wrestling was fun back then)
Poking fun aside, he’s leaving an amazing legacy.

I had seen 4 or 5 of their shows and they always sounded killer.

I don't go to concerts any more since I've seen all the bands that I like enough times not to need to see them again but I would reconsider going to a Megadeth show.

Good for him. I've always been a big fan of Megadeth. Rust in Peace is a seminal album, one of the best thrash records of all time, and he has a lot of good stuff on other albums too. Recently, I've been playing Dystopia and I like it. He can retire knowing full well what his contributions to metal have been.

I met Dave in a very personal setting once and it was a pretty awesome hang. Just me and about four other people saw him after a show in probably 92 or 93.

He was so relaxed that night and spent a lot of time.

Incredible career. For sure. His Sean Ryan interview was pretty good. Some dark bullshit though. Glad he has seemed to turn the page.

Totally agree that he’s getting better with time.

Kiko era and Marty era are hard to follow. Look forward to the next album, pretty bad ass album cover by the way to go out on.

With all the health problems he has had, I am not surprised. I'm surprised he still has all this energy for another tour. Dave really turned his life around and I admire that a lot. Very interesting guy to interview.

I've never seen Megadeth and Dave is a pretty big influence on me in terms of rhythm playing. He also mostly stuck to his guns (Risk aside) in an industry that rewards the exact opposite.

I was really into Megadeth when I was younger. I’ve seen them live a few times, and watched many recorded live shows from them, both officially released and bootlegged.

But now, all I ever go back to is the demo (which is a straight ripper), and the first two albums (Killing Is My Business, and Peace Sells). I remember them sounding atrocious live as far back as 2013. I haven’t heard new material from them that I remotely liked since the early 2000s. To hear they’re just now retiring is kind of insane to me.
