Awesome! Sounds like the 'one wire mod' and a Jose Master volume was done on it from how he described it.

That's this amp. I had that one here along with his Engl from George and his Lee Jackson modded Marshall that belonged to Paul Gilbert. Guy has some cool stuff.
This one had a weird Jose thing done to it. I actually made some changes to it because it sounded like shit. It was super thin sounding. That video was with my changes.

I imagine it was probably tuned more for cutting through the mix and something that sounds thin and raspy on it's own might sit well. No doubt it sounds great in that vid with your changes though. What did he Jose do to it then? Cascade it and throw in a master volume with some zeners on it?

It was too thin and it had feedback like crazy because nothing was shielded inside.
Cascaded, master, no zeners. Not like any Jose I've seen before.
The Gilbert was different from any other Lee Jackson I've seen. First Lee Jackson I actually liked.
The Engl was different from the modern Engl stuff. That was cool too.
He's selling or has sold them all.

Cool to hear!
Would love to hear more about the ENGL and the Lee Jackson.,,, I've always liked ENGLS (from back in the digital amp & straight 100 days) but I always thought Georges sounded a hair different. I saw his clinic at the East Coast music mall where he started using them.

I had a Lee Jackson mod in the 80's as well as 2 sequentially serialized M-1000's back in the day... I wonder how Paul's was different.

Most Lee Jackson stuff I've played has always had a whoofyness to it and seemed sloppy. The Gilbert amp was higher gain than any of the rest and was tight.
The Gilbert amp was supposed to have been used on the early Racer X stuff.

Here's the Engl

Last time I talked to him he thought he had the Gilbert sold.

Is the input on the Gilbert Marshall on the back ?

I don't think he knows anything about the inner workings or has been done to it. In the video he says it's stock with a Jose thing. Not a tech type guy. Pretty sure anyone with half a brain can tell it's modded.
