First off this is my first post here with you guys. Depending on what happens I may be joining your family. I found a Diezel Herbert on sale locally and he wants $2800 USD for it. All I have is 2 grand to kind of play with so I'm going to make him an offer. I guess he has a crap ton of amps in a studio, so he might actually take the deal. It's a Mark 1 edition and it's got the wingtip C or whatever tubes in it. I've never played one before, but I've obviously heard they are pretty sick. I'm into the whole Parkway Drive/Devil Wears Prada sound and I'm assuming they can pull that off pretty well. I had a 6505+ that I enjoyed quite a bit, but I was looking for an upgrade. Pretty much an amp to end all amps sort of deal. I'll let you guys know what happens. Anyone jealous..... ;) Also real quick, I have a Genz Benz G Flex ported 2X12 cab. It's got a celestion V30 and a GT75 (I believe is what it's called, please correct me if I'm wrong) plus a Steve Lukather ISP 15" subwoofer, which is insane by the way. Anybody have any experience with the Genz Benz cabs using a Diezel? Thanks guys I appreciate it!!

Chris

You will not regret buying that herbert. Buy it. 2800 is a pretty good price for it. if you get it for 2000 you got a fucking steal. I really enjoy the V30 sound with the Diezels. Alot of people do. Diezel cabs come with the V30s or the G12k100s. I think they come with a Hemp cone one too... But anyways. The herbert will kick the SHIT out of the 6505+. It will do parkway drive tone and better and much much more. I can't recommend it enough. It sounds like a studio finished guitar tone but straight out of your cab.

Hey thanks for the info dude, I really appreciate it!! If I get it, I might have to swap out the other speaker for another V30. Hopefully I hear back from this guy soon. I just hope I didn't insult him too bad cause' I still haven't heard back from him and it's been a few days. I tried to make it better by telling him that I understood how much the amp is worth. I just don't have that much money to spend right now. I'm sure he just wants some cash to buy something else, so maybe he'll go for it. I'll keep you posted. Unfortunately though I'm deployed right now and I won't get back till' November, so the amp is going to sit at the house with my girlfriend till' I get back, haha. It would be so nice to go home to that amp though. In my heart of hearts I know I'm going to want to play with it before spending time with her. I hope she understands, haha. Thanks again man. I appreciate it!!

Most likely, the reason why you haven't heard back from the guy is because $2000 isn't going to cut it. He is right on for a correct price at $2800. There have been a few screaming deals out there, for around $2500, but I've never seen a Herbert drop below that, which again would be why you haven't heard from the guy. Just save up some more money, and when you've got a high $2K figure ready to spend, you should be able to find a Herbert for sale. They are pretty common at this point and a guy wouldn't have to wait long for one to pop up for sale.

Supposedly, Peter Diezel designed the Herbert's EQ around the V30 speaker. It's what I prefer with my Herbert, in a front loaded cab.

Yeah it might be too good to be true. Some people are pretty impatient. I guess we will see. Your gear is insane dude. How do you like your Herbert compared to your Cobra. I saw one on EBay for a grand but that was around the same time I found the Herbert so I stuck it out. They seem to be really great too. After reading forums for hours most people seemed to like the Herbert more. Do you have a lot of issues cutting through with your Herbert in a band situation? Id assume if you just disengaged the mid boost you'd be good to go. I'm sorry man I'm sure you've answered these questions 8 million times on here. I was just curious. Thanks.

Alot of people complain about not being able to cut through with the herbert. Just because it's 180 watts doesnt mean you can just dial in a good "bedroom tone" and expect to have enough volume to cut through. Alot of the other people just dont know how to dial in a amp for live band applications. IMO the herbert and every other Diezel amp I have tried is MUCH better then any other amp I have ever played. Framus, Peters, VHT/Fryette (though i really enjoy VHT/Fryettes alot) Orange, ect......

Okay so if I can't hear myself with another guitarist I have crappy eq skills. Dooley noted, haha. I don't know man Adam D. makes that Cobra sound pretty intense!!

Yeah it sounds pretty great.... Recorded. The herbert sounds like that when you're standing in front of it playing. And it might not just be your EQ settings. It could be the other guitarist and bassist as well. Spending a large amount of time on EQing your band is well worth the time. If I go to a show and they sound like shit (even though they might have some serious skills) i'll go outside. When you try a Diezel out you'll know what I'm talking about ;) Good luck man!!

Haha, thanks Alex I appreciate it!! Keep your fingers crossed!! :)

So 2 grand was a no go. I emailed him back and asked him to make me a deal.........

$2500 sold!!!! Including shipping!!!! Man I'm going to have to put some pics up of this thing. It looks brand freaking new. Plus he just had it retubed by a tech with winged C tubes. I've never heard of them, but a retube is a retube. Apparently he prefers the sound of the older Marshalls. I talked to him on the phone he sounded very "old school" so I can imagine him not digging the modern sound of the Herbert. I still can't believe I got this deal. He's got a cab for it too, that also looks brand new. I may have to wait on that though. I'm so stoked. Too bad I have to wait 2 and a half months to touch/play it. I'd also like to eventually get her re tolexed in white. Anyway, yeah so I will be joining the Diezel family very shortly. I can't wait to see what all the fuss is about!! :D Thanks again guys for all the info!! Oh and serial number is 001/896. Did I mention the dude bought it and just let it sit in his studio?!?!?!??!!?

Congratz man! 2500 with shipping is a fucking steel! Winged C's are good tubes. I really enjoy them in my herbert! I have 2 Winged C 6L6's, 2 Winged C EL34's, and 2 Ruby EL34's in my herbert. Do you know what kind of tubes they are? EL34, 6L6? Welcome to the family!!!!

Haha, thanks man I appreciate it!! Yeah I asked the guy what kind were in there but he had no clue. I asked him for a few more details like what year it is, what the tubes are specifically and some more pics. Hopefully he sends them soon so I can show you guys how clean this beast is. Dude, the funniest thing about this whole situation is that I've wanted an ENGL Powerball for the past three years, haha. After having a little bit of money to spend I started researching about them and apparently to every other ENGL and Diezel....obviously...they are terrible!! I was so glad I didn't just go out and buy a powerball, I think I would have been pretty disappointed. Plus I think if I buy another amp, my girlfriend is going to kill me. I had to reasure her that this was the amp to end it all, haha. I loved the 6L6's in my peavey. I've also heard great things about the KT77's. I'll have to do some experimenting in the future. More updates and pics to come!!!

I have an engl fireball 100. I wouldnt call it terrible at all. It's very different. I think it's really amazing actually but the Diezel Herbert is in a different class. Hard to compare the two....

If the guy takes 2K or 2.5K for a MKI Herbert (which happens to be the best series of Herbert) then either it's got some serious issues that need to be checked out, or, it's been absued for more than 9 years, or, one word "HOT".

So let's oye como va, and as Pink would say "So raise your glass if you are wrong in all the right ways, all my underdogs . . ."

That’s simply because they're what's a.k.a. the authors of the paperback series known as "How to dial in a guitar amp live - For Dummies".

I just played two gigs last weekend in front of ~800 in the crowd. Solana Beach “Belly Up” and “4th & B House of Blues”. Herbert never fails.

Simply because some nimrod purchases a guitar amp that is entirely and wholly out of their league is no guarantee they will know anything about tone and where what tone will work effectively.

Anyone who states what you have anecdotally about Herbert’s mix cutting ability is null.

I recently got a Herbie used in pretty much mint condition, and I was able to talk the seller down to $2600, so there are of course deals to be had! If you can get it for anywhere in the mid $2000's it's a great deal

@ Alex, no disrespect towards the ENGL's, like I said I heard them and craved one for so long, but honestly, which one has the meanest most intentse distortion between the two, and which one would you keep if you could only choose one?!?! :-)

@Crimson, I talked to the guy personally on the phone and he seemed really legit. He's got his own studio with a shit ton of gear. I think he said he actually had two Diezel's but he only needed one, haha. I think maybe he realized he was going to take a hit on it. I'm pretty stoked he made the deal with me. He's also got a Diezel 4X12 cab he's selling too. I'm thinking about waiting a month or two and picking that up from him as well. Probably about 700 shipped. I think those cabs go for about 1600 brand new if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for the info man I appreciate it. Oh and hearing you talk about how sick the Herbert sounds live makes me feel better. Thanks dude.
