What do you guys think of them? Got an 86 Jackson coming, has the JT6 trem. They definitely sound weaker than an OFR or Schaller. Never tried a Gotoh...
What say you?

I’m not a fan, I had an EVH Music Man with a Gotoh Floyd, didn’t care for it, flimsy compared to an OFR or Schaller.

Go try a Suhr, that’s all he uses. I have no idea why...

^^^^ absolutely. The Gotoh is far superior than a floyd

Floyds come with brass blocks too, they’re just not a big block, and they’re nickel plated.

I prefer the Gotoh. I like the way that the arm attaches and is adjustable.

I left my OFR loaded guitar in single digit temps overnight when moving, let it re-adjust to room temp for a few days, and it was still in tune. To me, OFR does what I need.

I'd have to vote for OFR, too. I've had a few Jacksons with the JT6 bridge and there just was something not right about them, just didn't feel right. Maybe the newer Gotohs are better than the JT6 was, but I don't have any to compare with. The Jacksons I had with JT6s got an immediate upgrade to OFR and it's much better. Mine were direct swaps, didn't need to change anything, but did have to use the original studs. They were metric thread vs imperial thread. No biggie, though. Just cleaned them good and stuck them back on. So far, so good.

+1

I've also had problems with Floyd saddles sounding dull or producing weird pinging sounds on the high E. I now only use Gotohs and they have performed flawlessly for me.

I really like the gotoh bridges. I have a gotoh floyd and a 510. Both work well, stay in tune and perform better than any other trem I have. By comparison I have a Schaller floyd and a couple different fenders. Don't have an ofr...

I use both the OFR and Gotoh. The OFR is from the late 80’s and are great. Don’t know about today’s version. But the Gotoh of today is awesome. If I was to get a new Tremolo it’d be the Gotoh.

I have a lot of Floyds and one Gotoh (on a Suhr). I like the Gotoh just fine - it works great, feels good etc and I'd happily not avoid a guitar with one. The only downside is that I think they look cheap somehow. Like those TRS knockoffs from the 90s - maybe it's just the shorter baseplate on the bass side..

I like and use both. The Gotoh is a fine unit. No worries.

I do agree though... it looks a little cheap/odd... probably cause I grew up using OFRs... so anything else looks out of place.

Had a Gotoh Floyd on a Modern. Easily the best Floyd I've ever had on a guitar I owned.
