There's nothing worse than taking a big stiff one up the poop chute.

At least with Guitar Center you know it's going to happen in a well lit, reasonably clean environment.

I lol'd.

Wow. Thanks guys I get it now. Sounds like if I am going to sell I might as well try to buy/order something from them to maximize a discount. It's good to know that 40 to 50% seems to be their target ahead of time.

I wouldn't figure on GC opening a store in Hawaii - seems like a small saturated market but I'm not sure if Hot Licks or Easy Music are still around?
I've seen pics from friends that started working there stocking it up and from what I heard from others is this is possibly one of the nicest GC they've seen based off some pics of their recording area where they have a wall of Mac laptops setup for software. Hot Licks closed down quite a while ago, and Dan from over there opened his own shop in town called Dan's guitars which is where I get most of my gear from. Easy Music had two locations but just closed one in preparation of GC coming. GC is going to do well here.

What island will it be on man?
On Oahu centrally located in Pearl City.

THanks again guys for chiming in.

Brah that is awesome!!!! Man, I can't believe there is going to be a Guitar Center there. Blows my mind. Back in the day, I used to go to all of those other stores. I'm friends with Carlos Barientos and used to sit in Hot Licks guitars and talk about 80's tone with him and Zach all the time. I was in Dan's Guitars and Island Guitars alot too. Dan used to install my pickups back in the 90s and they had some great stuff. Loved Island Guitars too. I knew all of the guys in there and remember going in there and getting my first nice LP Standard. They took out every one they had and laid them in a circle while I paced and went insane trying to decide. LOL!

The one thing I'll say about Guitar Center is that it is cool being able to grab things off the wall, try them out without asking permission, etc. The downside to that is that kids go in there and downtune and play the same riff over and over with the amp full bore, treble at 10, mids at 0 and bass at 0. People will go in and steal parts off of guitars too. Doesn't happen all the time but is ridiculous.

Anyway, enjoy man! I really miss Hawaii. I know how it is being over there when new things come to the island. People on the mainland don't appreciate how many options they have compared to the island. I remember going on a trip to the mainland and all my buddy wanted to do was have Chik-Fil-A. We got off the plane, no sleep, tired as s**t and headed for the restaurant to get some chicken fingers. LOL

Thanks dude! So GC was pretty cool, glad to have one here. Amp selection sucked, lots of guitars n stuff. The drums/snare room + cymbal room is what I loved. That is something that never existed in Hawaii. After leaving GC I went to Dan's guitars and ended up picking up a 73 SG Bass... only at Dans
And I hear you about Chik-Fil-A, except for my family it was Olive Garden. For years we seen the commercials on TV but there wasn't any OG in the islands lol... went to one straight from the airport last time I went to visit some family in Texas, too funny.

Nice!! Man a 73' SG Bass, what a steal!! You are right man, can't get something like that at the other stores. I was going to ask you about Dan's when I read your other post. So when I was there, Dan's was over towards Diamondhead and then Hot Licks was in Aiea behind the car dealerships. So did Dan take over Hot Licks? That is crazy. I'm going to have to look up the store website.

Guitar Center is great for strings, picks, or buying used gear. You are better off selling to a pawn shop most of the time, rather than GC.
