THAT is a "lowball" offer. For a motherfucking USED guitar.

You really showed him, Ted. Really showed him what's up. @phillybhatesme makes a cameo.

Holy fucking shit. THIS is why the gear market sucks.

If I was listing a guitar for $2500 and some guy offered me $2400 and I eat shipping, which probably isn't going to be $125 anyways, I'd probably take that deal. Or at least offer to split shipping. Mr Sallis is retarded.

He can take or leave whatever he wants, but the real problem here is that offering 2400 dollars on a 2500$ list price is now an offensive LOW BALL offer.

In fact, it's so offensive that he felt the need to come back at 50$ above the list price, and then fucking post about it on TGP

I swear to god, people complain about their shit not selling, and I'm sympathetic, but holy shit man

I just read some of that post a minute ago, and some of the people there seem to be letting him know what they think of him lol

He deserves it, holy crap dude

People are really struggling out there to buy and sell stuff, and there's assholes like this who think an offer of an 8% whatever discount (and that's INCLUDING the free shipping?!!?) is completely beyond the pale, worth starting a shitstorm over

I know what I got!!!!

Wouldn't consider myself old, but I do remember a time when used anything pretty much maxed out at around 30% of new price. I blame things like American Pickers and Hipsters which seemed to eventually trickle into everything. That's not to say to lowball yourself if the market is willing to pay your price, but asking 80-90% of new (not saying that the above was pricing that) isn't uncommon on so many things, anymore. Not just gear.

It actually doesn't matter in this situation, really. Whatever the initial price was, an offer less than 10% off of the asking price being construed by any person as a "lowball" that's so totally insane it warrants a troll counter-offer and a thread to complain is completely balls deep into crazy town, you know?

Yeah, I agree and find that ridiculous. Personally don't get offended by lowballs, just ignore or whatever. Def not going to "Dear Diary" about it, let alone something so insignificant like in your OP. I was just rambling on because I thrift and shop yard sales forever and have noticed pretty crazy pattern over the last 10-15 years. Everything is now a collectible. :ROFLMAO:

Yes, that's definitely a thing, but we can't really control that.

As guitar and gear buyers and sellers though, we can definitely control the whole "not freaking the fuck out as if youre a victorian heiress who needs a fainting couch when someone makes a completely reasonable offer" thing

I guarantee you 90% (or more) of people selling things in the classifieds would take an offer of 10% off their listed price right now, happily

This is the sort of thing that drives people insane, because guitar didn't use to be like "this"

No doubt. I'd hardly call the offer unreasonable, or low ball. You can offer whatever you want, but the defaults on Reverb are 5%, 10%, and 15% of asking price, which even 15% off the asking price isn't unreasonable, depending on the item, and if it's overpriced to begin with. I combat the nonsense by listing it to move, and don't accept offers. Period. If I decide I've got the room, and want an item gone, I drop the price.

100%. And that's completely reasonable to either accept OR reject the offer. Your call. That's part of the unspoken agreement, right, to keep everything working smoothly in our ecosystem?

But acting like a 10% of list offer is somehow beyond the pale or worth a troll "okay, my counteroffer is more!" plus a fucking thread to complain about it?

That is honest to god insanity. Who the fuck would construe that offer as THAT big of an insult?

I'd say in this economy the offer was quite fair if he really wants to move the guitar. With that said I picked up a used bridge SD pickup pickup for about 60 bucks not long ago and I started looking for the same pickup but a neck model and there are guys selling used models for the exact same price as new at $119.00. Sorry I'll just buy new thank you if that's the going rate for used Duncans.

There's no universe where an offer of 10% off the listing price isn't reasonable. Just like it's reasonable for the seller to refuse it if he wants.

It's just the unmitigated GALL of someone to act like that's some kind of fucking insult LOL

Use promo code DUNCAN20 for an extra 20% off any of their SD pickups/sets.

It's been a strange market for a while now..............Not much decent stuff on CL like people are holding onto stuff............

Why the fuck would you even enable the "Accept Offers" function? This guy has to be from California....

Thanks for the link, I had a look and they didn't have it but thank you anyway!:2thumbsup:

Figured I would throw it out there just in case.
Always worth doubling back as they get in inventory and have been running that code for a while.
Hard to beat sub $50-65 new SD's.

PSA: These are all new, but read carefully as some are oem and don't come with pickup rings or screws/springs while other listing do for an extra $10, usually.
