nah steve, my kids come before everything. My two boys have shared a room but I want them to each have their own room. My daughter has her own room as well. It's all good, i'll figure this all out somehow

Interesting.
I've played for 31 years straight with no "break".

I agree with the earlier post that either you play or you don't. I could never give it up. It's part of who I am. It makes me happy.

Everyone is different. I've lost my inspiration a few times over the years but still consider myself a player. It's who I am and it's all over me right now, but every decade or so I stumble.

I haven't played in about 3 weeks. I just don't really have the desire to play much anymore. This feeling has been growing for a long time. I'm just more into my family and other hobbies I have. I stink at guitar and get frustrated anyway. I have no time for it really anyway. I've had to give up my man cave and turn it into a bedroom for one of my kids. I had to move my gear into my closet. Is it time to just sell off my gear and just buy an acoustic to plink around on occasionally?

Pack it all up, put it aside for a while and do what inspires you until the day it pulls you back in a way you cannot resist.

It's all a matter of perspective and I'm fairly certain I wouldn't be laughing, that is, unless you started out with a speech about how you were going to teach all the experts a lesson.

Music should be fun. You're not doing it for a living so set it aside for now. It's most likely that it will come back to haunt you again and next thing you know it will seem like it never stopped.

Does the sound of nylon string classical get you going?

Steel string acoustic?

Pick one up, they're super easy to just get on and play, and the more time you noodle on one without having to fidget and fuss over cables, power on/standby, cabs, FX, volume, the more you'll be inspired by the simplicity and the time clocked just having strings under your fingers.

Seriously. Sell the electrical stuff, it'll always be there to buy back; pick up a sweet, easy to play, nice sounding acoustic and dig in. I've gone "unplugged" before and it's gotten me out of a funk/rut every time.

Peace
Mo

Nah, I'm not one of "those" guys lol...i'm humble and admit...my playing stinks ! ha ha

Hey, don't despair....I've been where your at. I once took a break for around two years where I'd barely even pick up a guitar but every 3-6 months, to only put it down again because I did not feel inspired in the least. Then one day, I got the passion back. If I were you, I take a good look at the gear you have now. If you feel that you really have more than you need, make a good and clear judgement on what could go, but hang on to anything you think you'd really miss. Then, just stop. Walk away from playing, ...don't think about it. Don't obligate yourself with it, or feel guilty about not playing. Enjoy your other hobbies and your family. Don't even worry about it, because the day will come to where you'll get the bug again. And, when you do....you'll feel 100% good about playing again with a fresh outlook. Just remember that regardless of your ability, it's really only about your own personal enjoyment. Don't feel like you have anything to prove to anyone, because you don't. Take that break! It did wonders for me.

You put the kids first and that's commendable m'man.

But trust me, they'll be thanking you later in life for continuing to play guitar, and having one (or ten) around the house

Mo, that's actually what is on my mind. Perhaps the Ana Vidovic :inlove: :inlove: video I posted clued you in to what I've been looking at....ummm.....I mean listening to.

If you still had the room would you be asking this question?
Might be a reaction to the sacrifice you just did...give it some more time yo

Yes. I've become increasingly preoccupied by other hobbies over the last few years. Im also currently a stay at home dad. So from daylight to dark it's all about taking care of the kid at home, cleaning house, cooking, then homework with kids that are in school, family activities, then wife gets home from work and wants to talk etc...lol, then I finally have time for me after everyone else is in bed. On the weekends i'm busy with outside yard work, and various outdoor recreations. Guitar is way on the backburner these days.
Life is good though
