Dimarzio says this is a PHWN1 neck pickup from a Parker fly first generation of pickups. Looks to be based off of the Air Norton neck pickup with Alnico 5 magnets. Since it's listed under the same patent number it was likely just an Air Norton adapted to fit in a fly. Someone has adapted a bottom to it to allow use in standard guitar humbucker slots.

F on the bottom of Dimarzios usually means F-spaced. So it would appear to be a bridge pickup. Can you see what kind of magnet?

I put it back in the guitar in the neck position, probably need to change it out since it doesn't pair well with the JB. How can I tell which magnet?

-I agree about it being a VAI pup, I hope its in a bass wood guitar, I think they sound like shit in a managomy guitar-

It's in a mahogany guitar, & yes it sounds not so good. I think it would be good in the bridge position, currently I have it in the neck position, way too hot/bright for the neck

That looks like Alnico bar magnets I've seen but A2, A3, A4, A5 all look the same. I thought the Super Distortion used a mix of magnets but I may be confusing it with something else, it's been a while.

From dimarzio:

That is a PHWN1, it came from a Parker Fly Guitar

To me this seems somewhat unlikely, there's no way this pickup would fit in my fly

Yeah, that's a Parker Fly DiMarzio neck pickup for sure, yours just has two base plates on it. The DiMarzio factory black one for the Parker mount and someone added the brass one below that to make it work in another typical humbucker mount.

It looks like what comes stock on certain mfgs models. I've seen them in Fenders and Ibanez
