If I were you I'd just start a 'WTB - Cameron modded Marshall' thread. I'm sure something will turn up.

for the best "bang-for-your-buck" amp,i'd recommend looking into a Randall MTS series amp head.purchase a SL+ module & another module(perhaps a "clean" toned module) and you've got that great "gained-up" Marshall tone(i.e. Megadeth's "United Abominations")...btw,forum member "chubtone" IS an authorized Randall MTS dealer(and a great, honest guy).you can contact him for more info.i have the mts RM50 head, myself.it's a 50-watter w/two slots that'll hold up to two MTS modules at a time...it's a great amp and,as time goes on,you can swap out modules with something else that fits your changing tastes!!! ...just my 2 "rubles"!!!

I've often thought of going the modded Marshall route. But the axle I keep wrapping myself around is this: Which Marshall to start with. Newer Marshalls don't use the highest quality transformers and other parts which don't get changed by the modifier. So, even after the mod, you have a lot of cash into an amp of perhaps lesser quality than you could get from a new build. Older Marshalls are either so sweet you wouldn't want to mess with them, or, they're just ... old. Thats why I thought I'd try the ground up new build first. My Straub Cantus is a good example. Hand built with Mercury Mag transformers and sounds almost as good as the 69 metal panel I played. That said, that may be the best route to a Cameron

I've owned a bunch of Mark's mods and although they were all unique to a degree, they also all had a signature Cameron sound and feel that sets them apart from other amps. I'm sure Mark tweaks them until he's satisified with the end result regardless of what he's starting with anyway.

Peters Gryphon?
+1. Check out his clip on netmusicians. Killer.

Personally, I like my Marshall eater. But I know some people tend to avoid Peavey's like the plague. :aww:

Peters was on my list, but not sure I hear a Marshall-like grind in those clips -?

Your JSX is a "Marshall Eater"? :hys:

Check out a Mesa Boogie Stiletto stage II Deuce, or the Ace 50 watt head. Check out Mr. GQ jamming, he's boosting it and there's some delay.

Engl Blackmore
VHT 50CL
Laney GH100L
Marshall VM or a used JVM.

No need to drop $3500 on an amp when there's plenty of good one's out there for less than $1500.

I have a splawn for sale....PM me if interested....It can cover that no problem!

If you want something like a Cameron tone without waiting 6 years, I would recomend a Cornford MK50H. I had a couple Camerons side by side with the Cornford I had, and they were extremely simular. Mark also told me himself on two occations, that if he didn't build/mod his own amps, he would be playing a Cornford.

Why not look into the Marshall JVM? Or if you don't want to spend that much, a DSL?

Is that the new projected production schedule, or the old one?

ampeg vl 1002 try it. it will really suprise you, it roars like a beast !

Don't forget about the Eganater Tourmaster as well. You can have your cake and eat it... Buy the Tourmaster and put your deposit down on the Cameron because you'll have LOTS of cash left over.

my blackmore is the best marshall i've owned ;)

i agree, it's a bit darker and more aggressive than marshalls
Has more low end too, but doesn't have quiet as much mid range as most marshalls

Would the MK50H also cover stock JMP 50W Marshall tones? Wondering if I could replace my Straub Cantus and cover the Marshall waterfront. Especially since the Cornford is kinda steep. Have you ever heard the VHT Sig:X? Is the Cornford Mk II or RK100 worth consideration also?
Thanks!

Tone is subjective, all I know is that I have some 50W Marshalls (much less a 100w) that would absolutely bury a JSX in the same room. So i find it hilarious to see someone calling a JSX a Marshall eater.

Well you haven't heard my JSX and how I have it dialed in. My amp has embarrased 100 watt Marshalls and 150 watt Rectifiers in the same room with it's high volume clarity and gut wrenching thump. "shrugs"
