Help with rewiring Mesa Traditional 4x12

Im about to get my traditional 4x12 re-wired to 16 ohms mono

Replacing speakers with 2 redbacks and 2 creambacks vs the current quad of v30s

Using 14 gauge wire per dave friedmans recommendation (belden 8473) and getting one of these back plates

Question is whether I can reuse one of the input jacks from the existing 8ohm wired backplate or do i need to order this one?

Pop the backplate on the Mesa and take a look. See if they have jacks mounted on a small board. If so, you’ll need to buy a jack.

When you say board, what exactly does that mean?

Yes you can use those jacks. You can also use the Mesa back plate as well. No need to replace it, just rewire it, and put a label on it so that it's marked 16 ohm in case someone besides you is using it.

There's also no need to replace the wiring either. Just swap the 8 ohm speakers for 16 ohm versions, and put labels on the plate denoting 16 where it says 8, and 8 where it says 4.

Oh really? Darn i already ordered the wire

I couldnt find much info on the wire mesa uses, is it pretty high quality/quality in this application doesnt matter?

No need to replace the wire or jacks or plate. Just swap the speakers and keep the wiring how it is. I recommend putting small washers on all the speaker mounting bolts though. Mesa just ham-fists some Nyloc nuts onto the speaker frame with a drill.

Thank you, unfortunatey ive already ordered the wire. Doesnt look like they allow returns without a restocking fee

No, I just went to the hardware store and grabbed what seemed to fit. Bring one of the Nyloc nuts to Home Depot or something and they'll tell you the right size. Use stainless steel.
