I scored a Gibson Explorer for a good price over the weekend but it's in Kansas and we agreed for him to wait until late this week at the earliest to ship because its so damn cold. I'm a southern boy that has never lived north of north Atlanta so I don't know much about that northern life. How cold is too cold to ship?

It's like 3 here near STL. I wouldn't wanna ship a guitar through the Midwest right now, it's a whiteout blizzard in half the states.

Cold is not an issue during shipping. The guitar slowly cools down. But when you get it delivered, bring it inside and do not open for 24 hours. As it slowly cooled down it needs to slowly warm up. Otherwise cracked finishes and other issues can happen due to the heat shock.

I received my Mayo duvelle during a cold snap...think it was in the single digits. I just let it come up to room temp in the case before messing with it. It's been -13 for the highs and -30 at night here the last 7 days...that would concern me a little, but I bet that'd be fine too as long as you let it acclimate to room temp.

i used to worry about this, but then i think of touring bands in the winter that sometimes sit in the freezing trailers for nights on end

I'm in Louisville and just bought a guitar in Long Island NY and they just dropped it off at UPS, due here Wednesday. It's around 19 degrees here currently and the big snow storm has hit. I'll just let to warm up slowly in the case, I received a guitar 2 weeks ago and did the same. It was fine.

Well if you'd do that with a Duvell I feel way better about this guitar. I think if it were a Mayones I'd just sit there and stare at the box the entire time.
