How long do you wait before you officially call out someone

Can the OP disclose the city the guy is in so if he pops up under another name somewhere else nobody gets screwed by him?
 
What a dick move! I've sold, bought, and traded a number of times on this forum and had nothing but positive dealings. I hope things work out for you. Where is he located? Maybe there are Rig Talkers who are local and could pay him a visit.

Call the cops and file a report.
Netvestigate and find all his other usernames and forums he hangs out on and out him.

I reached out to this member towards the middle of March with some questions about Mesa Mark IVs. Took probably two weeks for a response. In his second message he asked if I had considered a Bogner Twin Jet and that he was selling one. Included this link

Is that the amp you were supposed to get? What was damaged?
The last pm from him was 3/24 which looks to be the last date he was online here.

My guess is he used the cash thinking you would take the amp after it was repaired and is now in a pickle and trying to move this amp to get your funds. Not good to be a no show now though. Perhaps not intentional but bad moves from the start for sure. Sorry this is happening OP.

Yep. That's it. And you are probably correct in the situation. I spoke with him on the phone today, we will see what happens.

So you started this thread, he's seen the response and you two are talking, is that correct? If so, that's a start, but if nothing happens SOON, time to take further action.

I'm only saying this to you as I had to take action against an old friend and business partner today. It was for a five figure number, however, and it pained me to do it. But he'd screwed over four of my referred clients for work for nearly a decade, and I finally made it right by gear he'd left with me for 3 years. I gave him six months to finalize the deals he made. He didn't, I sold his gear and paid back the clients I referred.

But this went over the course of almost 10 years, and he got an interest free loan for $28k for all of that time.
 
That is a long time to wait and you have been very patient. I really hope this gets resolved for you. Nothing like being without your $$$ when it wasn't your fault.

well, he told me that he was in the hospital for 3 weeks. I just knew that was going to be a response before I called. He asked for my paypal info and promised to get me all squared up. Asked if I would accept one payment now of $500 and another $500 on friday when he gets paid. I made sure when I texted him my info that we agreed upon $1500, as per our pm's I still have in my inbox. That's the amount he told me I was getting from the fed-ex check. I'm sure he didn't sell my diezel for $1000 either. Still no payment as of yet. Not surprised. Seemed nonchalant about the whole thing over the phone.

I don't want to continue to post my thoughts in hopes everything still gets sorted for you but what confuses me and what someone else posted, what is up with Fed Ex?

They sent the item back to the shipper and gave the shipper a check. I'm trying to see the logic.

Is their policy always assuming it's a gift therefore everything should go to shipper? If the item is for you, then why wouldn't they give you the money or give you the amp back?

Just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Have you talked to Fed Ex to see if there is anything they can do? Seems like a jacked up policy.

The shipper owns the thing that was shipped. In all cases. When UPS or FedEx sends an insurance check, it always goes to the shipper. The shipper is the one who hires them to ship the thing. Not the receiver. It's the shipper's responsibility to reimburse or refund the recipient. If you buy something from Wal-Mart and it gets lost or damaged in the mail, Wal-Mart gives you the refund, not FedEx.

Well I can't say that I wasn't expecting some sort of bullcrap response or excuse.

Been in the hospital for the past 3 weeks eh..............any proof of that?
 
Unless I was in a coma or knocked out cold,you can damn sure bet I would have contacted someone(my list on this forum is long)to get in touch with whomever I had a deal going on with and explain my situation.

The hospital thing is always either the first or 2nd excuse. Another one is " My internet service was suspended and I don't know why". Oh another one is " My home, or place of business, was flooded and I lost everything" See with that excuse they misdirect blame and throw it back on you for being a jerk when they're all helpless and vulnerable.
 
I had both my knees replaced at the same time 3 yrs ago. I was home in 3 days, and yes they have free WiFI in every hospital. Bullshit in this lame excuse.
OP I really hope you get paid.
