This is great man. Def talk to your doctor about any other steps you might be able to take to further the process. Perhaps your best life is directly ahead. Lord bless. ☦️
Definitely will. It really is all about will power as long as you aren’t in withdrawal. My Dad is a professional drunk and a great example of what not to be. Terrible to my mom. Almost no relationship with any of the grandkids 🤮

Well....perhaps it's the Lord that has called you to sobriety so that you can offer prayers for your pop and see him and your whole family healed. So if you think about it, maybe you're on a mission from God. I will definitely add your mom n pop to my prayers. Hoping for the best for all of you. Stay busy this weekend bro, play lots of guitar. Sober hands=dangerous chops. Until next week, best-VBF  ☦️

Going thru it with alcohol. I’m a bourbon guy. Average half a 750 daily and several times a month more than that. Always feel like shit until that next afternoon/evening comes around. “Only” had 8 oz last night and woah feeling weird already. Gonna try the wean down method. Anyone gone thru it? Any tips or tricks? Dr recommended rehab but I know I would fail in my current mindset. I don’t want to quit. But I do want to cut waaaaay back. Motivated to do that.
Drink way......

Way......

Way... ...

MORE.

This way it makes you want to drink less :dunno:

Its a good step but unfortunately you won't see any light for yrs to come.
Stay the course.

I have a few friends that are still doing the 12 step program for over 2 decades

Their light is still on the dim side.

Don't get me wrong. You're on the right track but dont ever get complacent and think its licked.

Its never licked. Never

Unless you drink alone, part of drinking has a lot to do with a fun social life..
I hardly drink anymore because all my friends are ded..
In the summer when I go to the lake and fish, I crack them open.. It is fun after all..

My ex housemate buddy died at 31 and I'm still here in this house 22 years later. He couldn't control it. Put me through Hell for 10 years tryna help him but as they say, you can't help someone who doesn't want to help himself.

have a friend whos a recovering heroin addict. $300 a day habit in the late 2000s- early 2010s
he would check into a cheap hotel close the curtains and no one would see him for 3 days

he would leave word at the desk not to send in the chambermaids lol

other times hed wake up in the hospital or some street corner not knowing how he got there.

the stories he told me coming off that shit would make the devil cry
i didnt know him back then. hes clean 15 years

hes one thats still going to 12 step

he is also the one that told me its never licked. he deals with it every second of the day

i ask him a lot of questions because i feel it helps him to talk about it. he doesn't mind or get annoyed

then i tell him what a bad boy i was because tried mesc and coke one time-----shit was not for me. nooo way

We lost a fellow bluesman of mine here back in late '15. By the time he realized he needed to quit drinking it was too late and his liver had started to fail. 35 years old. Had just got a loan and bought a home. A loan which is damn tough to procure with a 1099 style job playing music. I moved back here in early '16 and went to the memorial jam/concert which was one of the saddest events I've ever attended only made tolerable by his many great friends and family.
