I just installed a set of Motor City ....

Yep for me too! Very hard to go back to the regular pickup makers after having a Motor City epiphany.
I have the 2DBB set, Hot Head set, Detroiter set, Afwayu set, a Dragon Suit bridge and also a Torque bridge.
Actually haven't had the chance to try the Torque in anything yet. I'll get around to it eventually.
Also tried the T-Wreck but that one wasn't my thing. Still sounded great, just too stiff-feeling to play.

I recently got another Charvel (thank you Racerxrated) and wanted to use it for the gig the next night. I had a detroiter from a guitar I only played a few times before selling. I threw it in this alder single hum maple neck Charvel and was floored. It's a complete change from my normal setup. I typically use Duncan distortions in almost everything. I'm just blown away by this pickup. It's hard to describe but I would say it's like a great old celestion vs a new out of the box Chinese one. Yes they both will get you there but one is so much more 3D/rich/full/dynamic and the other is stale/stiff/grating. I've already sent an email to Wade telling him to take my money, I need his pickups in all my guitars.

Interesting...Detroiter nearly won out on the comparison I did when grabbed the 2DBBs.....the Detroit is probably my next MCP purcha$e!

It's like plugging into a Van Halen album with my Splawn. I am so impressed I'm ordering an unwaxed detroiter in zebra to go in the guitar I'm talking about.

Have a Solution in my Lp, Angel Dust in my strat..

How is the Angel Dust?

Saw a shootout on YT and that sounded amazing.

I have the Angel Dust in 4 of my guitars!!! Killer pickup.

I've been thinking of putting in some 2nd Degree BBs in my Les Paul. I have an Aldrich in there now.

How do the 2nd BBs compare to the Aldrich?

It's been ten years since I played the Aldrich pickup, so I've never had them side by side.
The Aldrich bridge is MUCH hotter! I'm a huge Doug Aldrich fan, but I hated those pickups!
That being said, I play basswood guitars and don't like hot pickups. They seem to be a good
match in the Les Paul.
So you'll likely have less gain and more clarity with the MC.
I'd love to hear from someone who's had both in a Les Paul too.

I just had the Aldrich back to back with some MCP's in a couple of Les Pauls, and this is correct.
The 2nd deg BB's are way less hot and much clearer than the Aldrich.
To me, the 2nd DegBB is the perfect slightly hot PAF style pickup in a Les Paul. For a little more mids and grind, the Detroiter is a little hotter than the BB, but still not really a hot pickup. Still has the PAF clarity.
The Aldrich wasn't really bad in any of the Les Pauls, but definitely hotter, and seemed just kinda meh to me. If I'm gonna use a pickup that's wound that hot, I much prefer the Afwayu, but the Afwayu may not work for you if your guitar is on the dark side. It can be really thick, and is not a bright pickup, but somehow retains that incredible MCP note definition, especially in higher gain applications.
I've never asked Wade about a brighter alternative to the Afwayu, because I haven't needed one yet, but I'm sure he's got something that would do the job.

In case anyone is interested, I thought I'd post the DC values of the pickups from my other post.
The 2nd Deg BB set is 7.6k N / 8.45k B
Detroiter's are 7.65k N / 9.35k B
The Afwayu's are 9.65k N / 15.3k B
The Aldrich bridge is 16.2k. I don't have an Aldrich neck pu.

Thanks for that!
I'm surprised that the 2nd Deg BB doesn't haven't more output than that.
I'll have to try a Detroiter set next!

Excellent! Thanks for the info!

I had the detroiter first but prefer the 2nd Deg BB

What Can you guys tell me about the Solutions? I have been an EMG 81 User forever & have really been considering going back to passive pickups.

I have had both and the Aldrich is way hotter and more compressed. The 2nd Degrees kick ass IMO especially in a LP style guitar. I have a 2nd Degree in the bridge of my Heritage 150 CM and T-Wreck in the neck.

I have an Aldrich set in my PRS and I think the neck is about 9k ish. It is pretty hot. I have the Afwayu in another guitar too. I'd say the Aldrich is bassier and beefier, where as the Afwayu has more bite and sparkle and is a bit more articulate than the Aldrich. Both great pick ups, just depends on what you prefer and what you do with them. The Afwayu has a bit more...personality I guess? Hard to explain. Wade definitely makes great pick ups.

Wired up my Afwayu neck pickup last night, and holy smokes what a difference.

It replaced a Dimarzio Liquifire which is a good pickup, just not my style. A little too muddy for rhythm playing for me; the leads sounded good through my Mark V (which I no longer have) but not so good through my JCM 800.

The Afwayu is fantastic - I think I'm done pickup swappin'!

The Detroiters are really cool, not super high output, but still a noticeable bump from the 2nd degrees. They almost have a "boosted" quality to them, if that makes sense. I prefer the 2nd degree myself, they have a really nice 3D quality to them. The only other pickup I tried that was comparable was the WCR Godwood, but I liked the response and pick attack of the 2nd degree better.

Next up for me is a Nasty Nasty. I have a bridge model ready to go into my LP to test out. From what I understand, it's supposed to be kind of like a slightly hotter Detroiter. About 9.6k, I believe.
