Fuck evething but v30s . I just hate other speakers , I just cannot find another I can jell with . I just have numerous versions of v30s lol
I have an 8 ohm V30 that’s not even broken in sitting in a box where it’s been for about 10 years now.

The great thing I noticed about these using the AC15 or the Lynx at similar gain levels with the FATRAT is the rich harmonics in the lower upper mids and the bass.

I set the AC15 on the top boost dimed and the Lynx on the lowest gain channel with moderate gain both with a FATRAT goosed with ODs and yeah they both had a special vibe and resonant and very harmonic mid/bass range that isn't overbearing and pleasing in almost every way.

Like a real violin/deep tone in the mids and it really rings smooth.

That's the best part about these speakers whatever amp you use them with when you push the gain, they really ring/resonate in the mids in a very humble, polite and graceful manner.

Most of the people I know choose the AC-15s with Celestion Blues as opposed to Greenbacks. 💁‍♂️

The Blue ain't bad but I personally prefer the Greenback with the AC15C1, plus you save like 600 dollars too or whatever..... The upcharge doesn't even make sense because the speaker cost less than the extra charge but people are fucking idiots so there is that :dunno:

Are you sure the upgrade is a C1 and not an actual AC-15 ? That might explain the upcharge.

The regular ones cost 1,100 now..... So yeah its like 400-600$ more..... The speaker cost 320$.....

This is a sale price but yeah normally 1,700 bucks.

It makes zero sense why they cost so much more but again people are fucking idiots :dunno:

I mean yeah hard to beat the UK V30s although I have to say I do like the way that WGS Veteran 30 sounds..... The UK V30 is the benchmark.

Good stuff 👍

Veteran 30's suck. If you only play at low to medium volume they're fine and sound pretty decent. They mush out, lose definition and fall apart sonically once you get into band volumes. That becomes even more apparent if you have one mixed with a proper Celestion. That's been my experience with all the WGS speakers I've tried.

I haven't played a WGS in over a decade so maybe that's changed. I'd rather just get a Celestion. Or if wanting something a little different grab a Weber or Mojotone.

Right not the biggest fan and I prefer Celestion tbh.

Also don't want to say Chinese Greenback are poo poo..... Because they ain't and they are still good. Brighter by comparison to the UK V30, more mid range bark and top end....

But yeah the UK V30s just handle gain and low end like a champ. Both different but yeah I can see them pairing well together and complimenting each other well. Going back and forth the Chinese Greenback ain't bad and holds it's own, just different.

So I have a spare Chinese V30 in 8 ohm a Hellatone 30 UK G12H30 70th Anni in 16 ohm and the stock Chinese 16 ohm Greenback in my AC15 C1. I also have a Bad Cat 212 Lynx Cab with 16 ohm UK V30s wired in parallel at 8 ohms to use as an separate cab for reference and bypass the onboard speaker on the amp and switchable 8 and 16 ohm options on the amp.

After rotating them all a couple times and comparing to the Lynx 212 Cab with UK V30s I decided on picking the Chinese V30 as the final speaker. It's a bit different than the UK one brighter, more mids but overall handles gain and the low end frequencies like a champ just like the UK versions.

I want to say by comparison the UK V30 is darker, more relaxed mids and highs and a tighter low end. The Chinese version has more mids and highs and the bass isn't as tight but still tight and more round than narrow.

Aside from these differences and slightly different response overall in frequencies they both handle gain and bass like a champ and don't fart or muddy out.

More or less they both sound very V30 more or less and very similar but also different in their subtle ways.

What I found too is I was pretty much able to get as much gain or handle it better with the Chinese V30 than with the G12H30 70th Annis or Greenback on the AC15C1 as I did on the Lynx 50 using the same set up and pedals.

What I found is sometimes it's not about the amp and it being able to handle gain or dish it out, it's about the speaker being able to handle it and a speaker really makes all the world of difference. The AC15 isn't all of a sudden the Lynx 50 or a Peavy 5150 that's not what Im saying but thanks to the speaker it can handle mote or less the same gain I throw at it just as good as a hi gain beast and the speaker really makes all the difference.

Its not for everyone but if you are after a speaker or want your amp to control higher gain better definitely check out a V30. I love Greenbacks and that's mainly all I've played on the AC15C1 but trying out the UK V30s and now this Chinese V30 I got from Avatar Speakers about 6-7 years back Im like why haven't I gone on to V30s sooner.

I mean..... Where have they been all my life and why haven't I moved on to V30s sooner. Glad I did and glad I have. Playing and having both IMO both Chinese and UK V30 are fantastic and they sound excellent and can't go wrong with either depending on what you're after but they both handle gain superbly and the low end great.

Anyways have to say maybe a lot are hung about what version is the best or if their Chinese ones suck or to toss then for a UK V30...... I say don't get hung about it, they both sound good and one or the other isn't going to unlock tone Nirvana/Heaven...... But hell can't go wrong with either IMO and as said they both sound excellent.

Anyways NVM the BS and fuck the noise I'ma get back to more playing and enjoy these V30s *_*

Best way I could put it.....

It's sort of like American Coke and Mexican Coke......

And your rig is like an order of nice bomb street tacos..... Depending on your mood you're going to want one or the other to wash the tacos down.....

UK V30s are sort of like Mexican Coke.... Unchanged recipe using non GMO corn syrup.

Chinese V30s are like American Coke..... Changed recipe a bit and using GMO corn syrup.

They are both Coke/V30s and sound/taste like Coke/V30s..... But yeah now I want street tacos and Im hungry as fuck *_*

Are you sure you mean coca-cola? It sounds more like you've been snorting something.

Interesting discussion. FYI, I just checked Avatar Speakers price on the Vintage 30 and it's $95 (plus $19 shipping). Pretty good. But I didn't reach out to confirm that they have the most recent UK-made ones. Anyone know?

They do not carry any new UK V30s. Only new old stock Chinese ones. This is what Dave said about it.

“We dropped celestion when we became the UK Fane distributor so we only have old stock left. We don't buy celestion any more.”
Best

Good to know. Thanks for that info, metalmaniac93. Sorry to hear that they dropped Celestion.

Yeah I still don't think it's a bad deal. Plus they are all 16 ohm.

For darker amps or scooped amps it's not a bad choice or a bad choice in general as they are 99 bucks or whatever. The 70th Anniversary are 95 bucks and 16 ohms only too.

I'm happy with my Chinese V30 from Avatar. Got a Hellatone 30 and it wasn't bad either but digging the Chinese V30 more. It just handles the low end and higher gain better especially when pushing the amp.

Also with the new Avatar Speakers they pretty much made a line that competes against Celestion for almost half the price and Made in the USA. Im pretty sure Celestion didn't like that either......

Aside from the Hellatone 25 and 30 and their Alnico Stuff. 5 new speakers from Avatar and yeah Made in USA.
