I just installed two new 2024/25 production UK made Vintage 30's...

I have a Soldano slant cab with 4x new UK 16ohm V30. I think they sound good. Admittedly this is a slightly different application with front loaded speakers and a somewhat small 4x12, but overall it's good IMO.

Honestly they are fucking amazing in the Bad Cat 212 Closed Back I have


Just so good, no stupid mid hump. Nice and relaxed overall and warm and just handle lows and gain so damn well. The more you play them, the better they get.


Totally recommend these and Bad Cat cabs or these Celestion UK V30s, forget Gold they are Platinum/Diamond level good *_*

The Mesa Traditional 4x12 I bought recently (new) sounds incredible. It was built after Gibson bought Mesa. And the V30s are still the Mesa UK ones. But I don't know if anything changed on Celestion's end with these. But I will say I love it. There is only ONE other V30 cab I've ever had that I liked. It was a Mesa Recto 2x12 I got back in 2009 or so. I wish I still had it, but it's long gone. Anyway... I've historically hated V30s, but this new Mesa cab is incredible—whether it's the speakers or the cab or both, I don't know.

For a long time I’ve wanted a trad cab to go under my boogie heads across from my Marshall cab that has the Marshall’s but they would just never turn up used and I always hoped for one to show up with a vintage style grill. I broke down and got the EVH cab instead, several years ago.

I wish. Not for 15 hunsky plus shipping and tax. Plus it’s 8 ohms which gets weird with running two cabs out of the power station when the other cab is 16. Plus I have my heart set on a matching grill to my Marshall which is what I think is a salt and pepper.
There was recently a used Marshall 1960BV on GC that had the right grill and I waited too long with it on the wishlist while figuring out what to do and it was sold.

Mesa kind of have a history where they were inspired by Fender amps and the first models were based on Fender amps....



More or less America and Americans and Fender mainly used 8 ohm and 4 ohm speakers given the transformers they used. This is why Mesa mainly uses 8 ohms I figure because it's out of tradition and its a part of that Fender/American DNA that ultimately makes up a big part of that Mesa sound. Even though they could now it's sort of like why mess with a good thing and probably goes away from the Mesa sound/tone.


British amps and Marshalls mainly used 16 ohm speakers and 8 ohm speakers based around their 16 ohm transformers and this is where the difference comes I figure. This is why you see Bad Cat/Friendman use 16 ohm speakers in their 412.


Aside from the tradition that may seem irrelevant now it's also a part of the sound

And again this goes back to the American vs British approach in ohms used in general back in the day for amps.

I guess but they are Recto cabs and Rectos do. So does the flagship JP2C. So Given the quality of the cabs I'd think they'd want to sell them for use with other heads as well.

I guess it's sort of like saying "why doesn't Fender offer 16 ohm taps for their amps" because they just don't and it's not Fendery..... Same goes for Mesa in a sense, it's just a part of the Mesa sound.

Yeah using my AC15 again to compare the Greenback in it vs the V30s used as in extension cab in the 212 Lynx I have. I brought out the FATRAT this time to emulate the higher gain of the Bad Cat or similar levels. Goosed it with a Griffin FX Johnny Chimpo and a Maxon 808 and finished the chain with a 6 Band MXR EQ at the end to get condition and revamp and reamp the sound.

The AC15 just sounded way better with these for higher gain and it don't fart out when pushed with the V30s.... Less mid heavy, more relaxed highs and mids and enhanced bass response.

I mean at lower volumes the Greenback holds up but when pushed UK V30s just win all day here.

Went on to plug into the Bad Cat Lynx 50 using the FATRAT and same set up and yeah it sounds friggin tits. Even on the higher gain channels and using higher gain it just sounds tits and the UK V30s can handle all that shit and the motor boat them tits all day long even with the stupidest most unnecessary amounts of gain......


Remember this is an amp with 7 gain stages already and using the FATRAT goosed it held up and the V30s sounded pure tits....

I say why fucking not...... and these UK V30s are worth their weight in Gold, get some or pick up a decent cab with these in them, they are glorious

Its stock with a stock Greenback.

I have an 8 ohm Chinese V30 I may put in it as the ohms can be switched with from 16 ohm to 8 ohm.

But honestly really recommend a current production UK V30 as an excellent upgrade who those who want a speaker that can handle more bass and is more relaxed in the mid range and higher frequencies.

They should run these in the 212 version.

Good stuff and handles even the most brutal preamp gain and power amp breakup with ease.
