I currently have:

Mesa Rectifier 4x12 (V30s)
Stone Age 4x12 (G12M Heritage)
Engl Pro 4x12 (V30s)

I'm loading the new cabinet with G12K100s. Does anyone have any suggestions.

So far I'm looking at:

Lopoline
Avatar
Emporer
Vader
Splawn

Thanks guys,

-Greg

If I were to choose one from your list I would get the Emperor. Totally custom, boutique, great look, and killer price. In my interactions with getting quotes and stuff, they seem like good dudes to deal with too

I vote Voltage.

Mills Acoustics or Emperor? Maybe Orange? I'd stay away from Vader. Avatar cabs are nice for the money but they aren't breathtaking sound wise.

I had a Mills. I sold it.

I had an Avatar Contemporary 4x12 and I liked it.

I've never heard of Voltage cabinets. Let me look into them!

splawn all the way. 13 ply cabinets and the build quality for the price is bar none the only choice i would make.

What didn't you like about the Mills? How did it compare to the others?

The build quality was great as well as the customer service (some of the best I've had). I just think the Afterburner 412B is way too similar to a Mesa Rectifier 4x12, with the Rectifier cabinet being superior in tone. I recorded three or four blind tests with the same amp settings, as well as varied ones, and the Mesa won every time. I had about three or four of my friends who are also very serious about recording and guitar tones and they agreed that the Rectifier cabinet was less stuffy and tighter than the Mills under the microphone. I will admit, I like the Mills better in the room, but that doesn't mean much to me in the big picture. My tones need to translate to "tape."

The Splawn is number one right now on my list. Those Voltage cabinets look quite promising as well.

My third Emperor is in the mail right now.

You will be stunned.

You will not regret it.

I like my lopo and my avatar, but I LOVEEEEEE my Emperors.

i'm honestly not overly familiar with the G12K100s but i'm very familiar with splawn cabs and their quality and construction and i'll take them over anything else on the market...and i have, twice :D

Seems like all the cabinetry is neck to neck right now.

I've seen the most robust opinions about the Splawn cabs so far.

Keep those opinions comin' :D

   What?

The Splawn is just another vinyl-covered box.

The Emperor is probably only $475 unloaded/shipped, it sounds incredible, it's 100% custom, and it's a work of art.

How are the Splawn opinions more robust than my opinion of Emperor?

IMO, this is no contest.

DiezelMonster has a Splawn 4x12. Its very good but I found the Bogner to have a thicker/denser tone, which I prefer.

I also highly recommend Mills, regardless if Andy Sneap uses one or not

My favorite topic

IMO all the main players, Mesa, Splawn, Bogner, Diezel, latest zealot flavor of the week........all are very close and well built.

Remember Dave's Marshall cab Greg? Nothing special about the cab, plain jane 70s marshall cab beat up but the speakers were the magic ;)
