if you still gig with a 412 cab, why?

Played a few of the DV Mark amps, not my holy grail (for me it's my Bogner XTC 20th EL34's) but real good sounding and pretty versatile I thought. Certainly if I wanted a superlight combo they would be in my list to try again...definitely respectable sounding and made nice, just all of it is really light. Tried the Bad Boy head too, sounded pretty good to me, 3 channels, lots of gain & wide range of tone. Cabs are silly light, a 1x12 is 15lbs, a 2x12 is 23 lbs, each driver can handle 150 watts so my 4x12 is a 600 watt cab!

Cab is made of poplar plywood and with neo speakers its almost silly light when you pick it up, like an empty cab would be. I laughed out loud the first time I picked it up compared to my Mesa (heavy-90+lbs) or Bogner (heavier yet) cab. Works really well for me. I'm getting older and have a bad back so for me its a perfect solution, the sound I want and stage dispersion but in a 46 or 47 lb cab I can actually transport with relative ease. Being able to carry a 4x12 literally in one hand down the stairs instead of lumping down stair by stair and no way to get it upstairs by myself without killing myself is clutch for me. How it sounds especially as it breaks in is the best part. Just my opinion but a great solution for me. GC will get you one to try if they still have any in stock. MF carries them too and has 22 of their products. Not cheap though....but GC was blowin out all of their stuff out pretty recently....someone else on this forum uses one too, can't remember who it was but they dug it too.

I'm coming in really late on this thread, but I'll offer my four top reason for still using a 4x12:

1. It sounds good
2. It looks cool
3. It looks cool
4. It sounds good AND looks cool.

:D

It would be interesting to A/B test your preferred 4x12 to the same 4x12 loaded with a Neodymium speakers. This would reduce the weight of my 100 Pound cab by 24 Pounds.

Yeah I agree the Neo's would lighten your load although I don't think the ones in my DV Mark cab (B&C brand) are available in the US. I made only the most minor of EQ changes to go to these from my V30 loaded cabs. Not sure what the other makes of Neo's would give you.
