The right pickup (Super Distortion)
Speakers (Greenbacks)
Guitar (Strat with maple board)

And, the hands.

That amp was one of Mark's(Rockstah)total built amps thats not one of the Marshall's that clients would send Mark to mod.Very nice amp and collectable.....

But I think there was more tweaking with Marks actual mods than he gets credit for. Like a Cameron, he probably played it, tweaked, and kept on until it sounded right.

Yup, I agree - that's why everyone says Mark's mods sound better than other's versions of the Mod 5.
I've seen inside several and all the ones I saw were right out of the Metro forum description, except one that didn't even have the filtering changes... so... while I haven't seen all of them, the few I've seen were exactly as per the Metro forum instructions or were just the simple preamp changes.

$6500 is a sucker's price. This looks like the standup 1959 Model (1969 era) kit that George used to sell for around $1000. Unless this used 2203/Plexi Hybrid clone has a bunch of NOS, and premium tubes, a generous price would be no more than $1800 imho. Don't get me wrong. It's a great sounding amp, but his modded late 70's (78 IIRC) Marshall sounded better than his ground up kit builds imo. If I was looking to recommend one of the amps he worked on, if would be any late 70s Marshalls he modded in the $2000+ price range.

For $6500 you could get a Brown Eye and an Atomica

Agreed, Mark made some of the closest VH clips I've heard. But, I also think that if you'd plugged him into almost any good marshall with his guitar i't'd have sounded pretty close, maybe a boost at most.

I remember reading on the Metro forum where guys were giving him a hard time because he couldn't make a clip where he DIDN'T sound like EVH.

You really need an amp with the right upper mids - the Mod 5 has that. So along with talent, and the right setup, it helps to have he right amp voicing.

i have an old belt that doesn't fit any longer that i should put on ebay for 10k.
i listened to a lot of vh while wearing it.

mark definitely had the brown sound and eddie's touch and feel captured. but i've never heard anyone else who played a rockstah mod get as close.

this kid gets the brown soon din spaders with a 1 watt Marshall JMP1 that costs less than $800 bucks. Might be in the fingers…

I have a JMP 2203 that Mark modded for a friend of his. I don't sound anything like EVH when I play through it, but it still sounds amazing. Worth what I paid for it ($1.2K)? Definitely. Worth what this guy is asking? No way. Ridiculous.

I picked up AndyKs and no I don't sound like EVH either..but with greenbacks I'd get closer. It's just a really nice 2204 in great condition, nice warm Marshall tone. And boosted sounds even better. Nice changeup to what I already have. But it's not worth 6k...

That was awesome! 16 years old? wow!

Best thing about that kid playing I'm the One...look how much fun he is having. Awesome.

The part that got me laughing was the $250.00 shipping charge to Canada... from... Canada? lol wtf?

I got the JCM 800 efraser use to own and He could make it sound good -- Mark thought so too

Some of the stuff on ebay spins my head 360 degrees sometimes. But the thing is, people fall for it a lot of the time.

I also, would love to own a mod 5..and was one email too late for andys, but Id have to sell a kidney and my liver to pay that much for one!...geeesh..
