This guy was by himself, late at night in an alley [alone] not to brite, prolly had some alcohol impaired thinking.

Typical gang initiation type stuff is go out and randomly Cap or beat a white person to show they got what it takes.

yeah...well all i'm saying is there is ALOT of that kind of violence/racism/gang activity here in the st louis area. yeah i live on the illinois side. but i have worked all over the st louis area for the last 10+ years. for hvac contractors...at barnes hospital...factories...all over st louis. just because i have to cross a river to get into st louis doesn't mean i don't live in the area lol.... hell i even saw iron maiden at the old auditorium before it was tore down. back in the 80's? ....i saw maiden at the fox theater years ago...metallica in the old days...i remember the guns n roses concert where the riot broke out...i saw ozzy with zakk wylde....motorhead the last 3 times they played here....
but anyways - back to the more recent years - i went to ranken tech for hvac - i've been all over st louis working for contractors ....almost mugged/robbed a few times....worked at barnes for awhile - most of the blacks there seemed yo be on a warpath with anyone white a couple years ago lol.... then the whites start shit with anyone from illinois lol....i've been here in st louis for quite some time and seen alot of shit go down in this city. yeah i'm from illinois - but it's still part of the st louis area wether most missouri natives like it or not lol.
there's just alot of seperation in this city is what my experience has been. i'm working over there aain now and i think i'm kind of lucky to have found a group of people who aren't filled with racism and/or hatred for anyone different than them lol.
if i hadn't bought this house here i woulda moced away a long time ago i think lol

Probably the worse location out of the old Arena & Barnes that you mentioned is the location of Ranken Tech off Newstead between MLK & Delmar, thats the hood.

I have 30 years in the trades including HVAC/Boiler Maintenance, Ranken is a Premier school and ive worked with many Grads, Bart formerly of Hoffman Bros and Ranken Grad did the rough in wiring [in one day] of a 606,000 BTU Power Flame Steam Boiler Hoffman installed in a building i managed for 11 years. Hoffman Bros only hires Ranken Grads right from schools. My old bosses son is a Ranken Grad, my blueprint reading Instructor for CNC Machinist School was a Ranken Instructor.

Nobody is trying to take anything away from you being from Alton, home of the Alton Giant Robert Wadlow a very good friend of mine has lived in Alton more the 70 years.

All im saying is if people are out drinking late at nite downtown, on Broadway/Soulard, the Grove they run a high risk of being a victim of crime.

Yes there is crime, yes if you leave a van full of gear in a dark alley unattended it will get robbed but that happens in many cities.

If you walk around the wrong part of town drunk at 4:00 AM you may have some problems but if you are just going to Stl to see a show or go to a restaurant or to the zoo or anything else for that matter, there aren't as many problems as Dan is trying to portray.

Prsplayer86 came to our show last weekend (was awesome to meet you btw and thanks for coming) I think he made it out alive not to mention there was a rap show right next door so a good mix of cultures there and everything was all good.

I lived in St Peters from 1982 to 1996' i used to bash the City alot but its a great place to live.
My Neighborhood is a Historical District and has Community Associations with famlies going back to the 1700's. They don't allow public housing here and if there is someone causeing problems the Alderman get them out. We don't put up with Bullshit here.

Most crime happens from 9pm to 5am but can happen anywhere, anytime.

I don't drink so i don't go to bars its not an issue for me.

My old bosses wifes' Great Grandad played in the 1880 World Championship [series] for the St. Louis Browns [now Cardinals] and he lived 5 minutes from my house.

I myself haven't had any major problems in 12 years i don't put myself at risk either.

But i know alot of people that have had problems, they're 2.5 Million in the Metro area.

To the OP, this city has a huge crime problem.

Avoid downtown [day or night] and don't go anywhere alone if possible.

It's lively. Lots of pretty girls walking up and down streets. Friendly gentleman selling pain relievers there as well. Saves you a trip to the doctor.

I just got back from breakfast with the Mrs.

I leave the house everyday, but i do my bidness during daylight hours if possible.

I do 30 to 50 mile rides everyday weather permitting.

Funny thing about Criminals by 5am most are in bed and going to sleep all day.
