Looking for some advice on this, ordered an old intellifex unit from Reverb as recommended by many rigtalkers and friends.

Found an okay quality one on Reverb but it arrived in a poor state. The rack ear has been bent almost to snapping and the recall button is non functioning. The screen was also dislodged but that was an easy fix. I took the unit home and used a rubber mallet to try smack the ear back straight but it's 90s USA made so the case is very strong and doesn't want to bend. I also have no idea where to start looking for a replacement switch for the recall button. Any ideas?

The good news is it turns on and sounds amazing, like surprisingly good! Puts my old TC Major2 to shame!

Wrap a rag around the ear and put it in a vice. Don't tighten it to much, you should be able to bend it back pretty easily. Done it many times.

That's what I was going to recommend

Simple genius! Gotta find a vice... and one that isn't beer or gambling

What about the switch? Might need to have one retrofitted

Try Rocktron, they may have spare parts. 2 blocks of wood in the vice is as good as a rag for bending the ear back into shape.

They did you a favor, now go get an Intelliverb.

Aww don't say that now ;)

To be honest I'm loving the intelliverb, I'm really surprised at how much better (subjectively speaking) it is than the Gmajor or Lexicon effects. Very transparent! Only comment is the programming is pretty tiresome and there is fractional processing lag but still noticeable

Whoa now, it depends on which lexicon you're talking about lol I had an intelliverb, it was awesome...but being better than a PCM 70/80/81....uh, no   I don't think that's what you're saying anyway lol;). About the switch, it would be nice to eliminate the possibility that it's just a bad solder joint on the board. Do you have a multimeter and soldering iron?

Instant patch change used to be a big deal to me too....but eventually I learned that none of the really best sounding units do this and revamped how I set things up and added more effects units to my rig.

Beer and gambling is probably cheaper than hookers and blow... maybe...

Love the Intellifex. That was high end shit, back in the day. Still sounds great!

I've got a cosmetically sounds Intellifex Online that needs some love... some serious clacking noise on the outputs...

Be happy to send it to you for you to cannibalize... I'm sure it's an easy fix for those in the know...

Shoot me a PM with a decent lowball price (a little over what it would be to ship) and I'm happy to give it a good home...
