Scott is just very emotional about his gear, maybe more than some are to their own families. I have never had any equipment bring tears to my eyes. It's the constant clinging and worshipping that brings the comedic aspect to anything, creating a cult-like vibe, brotherhood, family, etc. :loco:

For me its just hard to see how someone can get so passionate about gear. SP's initially turned me off to the Axe-Fx, I didn't like how he was trying to shove it down everyone's throat. To me its just music gear and I really like music gear, but all gear I have ever had has had its good things and bad things. I have never used an Axe-Fx, but I bet its the same way, good things and bad things. Excited about the new Axe-FxII though, just wish I had more spare cash at the moment.

I know this - a small gear maker can make a living just marketing to TGP. 80,000 members...if you can convince just .5% per year to try out your $2,500 doodad...well you're talking $1M/yr in sales. Plus whatever is generated from the word that spreads from there to beyond. Getting the dude that runs such a forum (and thus controls the conversation) to praise your name and diss all the competition would be a very valuable thing. While I don't know for sure that he's an outright shill (although it sure does walk like a duck...), you can bet your ass that they do exist.
If the overall 'tone' and 'feel' of TGP is directly related to the way it is moderated [read: S. Petereson] then I can understand why it is I am not fond of S. Peterson and his moderator style, as its effects have obviously trickled down and infused themselves into the overall 'feel' of TGP. I can't stand that place, and seriously, in all the years of being a lurking viewer, member or participant, there was something that rubbed me in a VERY wrong way with TGP overall. I don't like it. But that's not to say it's a bad place, it's just not a place for me and my style. I'm obviously not one of the 80,000 happy members and Kool Aid drinkers (jab, sorry).

Whatever.

Forgot the tear to the eyes thing....that WAS funny

This has become more about TGP than the Axe FX II.

TGP sucks. We all know it, but there's a couple who may not admit it.

This Axe FX II sounds so promising. I can't wait to hear more!

Ya, it is the ultimate tool, I have to admit it. But I can't ethically support a network of assholes. Now, if Cliff and Tom want to talk shop about the forum's complete and utter bizarre drone bee hive mentality, maybe I'll reconsider. But otherwise, what a bunch of pompous ponces. It's a shame cuz Cliff has been cool with me, as has Tom King. Scott OTOH, well, maybe he needs to get some play, and I don't mean with a guitar. WAY too serious for my tastes... ANYWAY.

I oughta copy and paste some PMs I've received from other members over there - they're actually SCARED to say the things they tell me. They're fearful they'll get lambasted or - god forbid - banned from the forum. I'm sorry but that IS Gestapo mentality... It's ridiculous, ESPECIALLY considering hey - WE'RE THE CUSTOMERS THAT FLOAT YOUR DAMN BOAT!!!!

Ridiculous.

Where's my Hagen :D
V.

Mo's back from the other side

With the HAGEN he is coming back in a big way!
DAMN STRAIGHT GENTS!!!!! And Laura....

Look, I bought the Axe as an effects module for my Mak4, it worked tremendously well. Yay. I got into its amp/cab sims, and boom, life became 100% better when it came to DI recording with my DAW. This is what got me interested in the.....taaaadaaaaaaa....Axe-II.

But don't think for one tarnished second that I wasn't jizzing my drawers about the fact I put my order on for a Hagen. I am so excited. Axe = Toy. Hagen = Manliness. I'm stoked about the Axe-II because the thing allowed me to write a lot music incognito - late night love - it's awesome. And I'm a guy who really wanted a headphone jack and a USB interface without hacving to go through a separate preamp/MIDI/FW/USB interfacce (read: ProFire 610). So that's all fine and dandy.

But put it this way - if the 2 parcels arrived at my doorstep at the same time, one the Hagen, the other the Axe-II....???

Hagen all day baby. The Axe-II would be shelved until I had some time.

Peace,
Mo

I wouldn't ever let the vibe of the people at the Fractal forum keep me from owning an Axe.

I don't hang out or contribute there, and am perfectly at peace with the fact that it's not a place for me.

However I do love what I can get out of that piece of gear; not selling mine. :D

YMMV

Ya, thanks Josh... As we spoke about in our PM over there, I actually get on fine with Cliff and Tom, and that's cool. Their product rocks, so that's it. I have to take the higher road and stay away from that place because it's just so easy to wanna tell people to go f*ck themselves. It's like hanging around a room full or arrogant nerds. And offensive assertive nerds at that. Not my scene.

I will take the higher road. Thank you. And it's ONLY due to the fact that Cliff, Tom and I have had actual decent conversation that will make me, er, allow me to pull the trigger on the Axe-II when she's available. I'll keep my thoughts opinions and questions to myself, or simply ask them over here. The quality of feedback of here is immensely better. Incredibly so.

Have a great start to your day folks!!

I don't get all of the venom toward Scott Peterson......

He's a REALLY :D vocal fan, but I've never seen him get shitty with anyone; there are a couple of guys on the Fractal forum that are straight up obnoxious.

As far as his moderation on TGP, it is what it is; the place is probably a bit too civil for my tastes :D , but it's their house, so I play by their rules, or just don't post.

I agree with this totally. I will post some of his comments as they are very vocal and sometimes so much so that they give some comedy. However overall he has always been cool with me, answered some questions on a specific piece of gear, etc.... His moderation style fits TGP and he is one of the better moderators at the Fractal Forum as well.

Tim...

Your avatar. Nice. Wife perhaps?? Regards.

Thanks V, no not my wife. I had her in a picture with both of us in it as an Avatar at one time. I learned my lesson after a few comments by Barzini and a few PM's asking me if I would trade equipment for sex with her. So I stay strictly with non family avatars after that. :D

I am going to say this, I have heard 100s of Axe FX Ultra Clips, I have heard a few Axe FX II clips and not one of them comes close to this Hagen Clip for this type of tone.

Also this is a room cam and most Axe Clips I have heard have been mixed in a home studio. Just nothing I have heard form the Axe FX gets this kinds of warmth and depth. And do not get me started in regards to the Axe FX versus my friends Plexi, not even close to feel/tone/vibe.

One last thing I realize that so many Axe Zealots complain of those that compare to tube amps, I have seen this in the last few days, they say find tones that are good, why compare to tube amps anyway. Well if this is true or practical then why does the Axe have amp sims named after tube amps, Plexi, Corncob, HAD100, and on and on.......

Just Saying....

Wasn't me you pm'd with over there, but I'm glad you're going to go with what you dig.

I don't participate in the FA forum; last time I looked, their standard response to many questions was "RTFM" or without the censorship, Read The Fucking Manual. :D

I get where they're coming from (I suppose) but I much prefer the vibe here; rarely do you get those type of douchebag responses, no matter how many times the same question has been asked.

Apologies - I'm getting hammered with PMs over there, it was jlbaxe... Sorry for the mix up.

Regardless, we're all down with the same scene - the same movie - this place rocks, there's no denying it. And Fractal f*cked up, and they're dealing with it now.

Hagen incoming, and my beautiful and loving and [actually totally outrageously awesome] wife can hagen my drawers all day too should she wish. So long as there's no guy named Herbert lurking around :gethim:

Note: with respect to the comment made to Tim above regarding his avatar, that was for a pop from the crowd, a joke. I'd never disrespect my wife...I love her to bits...damn straight best woman, finest woman an insane cat like me could have ever had the luck of marrying - and love at first sight to add to the harlequin romance no less
