I've never bought a fractal product and never posted on their website but based on what I've read it seems like a real clusterf*ck. I'm very suprised that somebody like Line 6 hasn't bought Fractal up. Not saying this would be good or bad, I'm just suprised it hasn't happened.
I do not think the customer base is big enough to justify that. In 5 years all of this and more will be on your phone .... something as big as a rack unit will be a thing of the past. If not five it will happen in ten.
Hah, if I could get Guitar Rig 4 or POD Farm on my iPhone, I'd give it a chance.

The way I see it people will be using the 4 cable method with their cell phone. The guitar will just have a very small wireless system built into it. Your phone will be the rest of your rig and it will transmit to the PA wireless..... Or the whole rig will just be in the guitar itself. It only makes sense ...

I'm going to be ecstatic to receive mine through a company like TM instead of dealing directly with the manufacturer and it's egotistical owner.

you're still dealing direct. if you purchase a new anything from a distributor you are still paying Cliff royalties on his product. if you buy new it does not matter where you buy it from, you're still buying new and still paying cliff your money :)

companies seem to still be making millions off of rack products and as small as components seem to be, it is impossible to turn an analog function 100% digital and replicate all the variables that exist therein. companies have been using algorithms/registers for bit and binary state manipulation to produce sound for years, this is nothing new. lexicon was doing it in the 80's, many companies are doing it now. we live in an analog world. digital has its place and purpose and the users will always have a choice, therefore if there is a chance to apply capitalism on an idea then nothing is going to become outdated with demand - analog or digital.

the same can be said for vacuum tube technology. FET's and BJT's have basically erradicated tubes in every day technology but still tubes exist to serve specific functions in high power applications and LOS radio transmissions. how many people here user 100% solid state amplifiers over tubes here and refuse to go back to tubes ever again?

the fact the digital age is evolving offers advantages for leading edge technology and more specifically only for the engineers that can apply it. to say something as general as "rack technology" is too broad and does not make much sense at all, especially in the real world/human factor applying choice/supply/demand/quality/physics/limitations.

Oh, I'm aware. If there was any competitors out there for the Axe FX, and I hadn't committed to a purchase through Tone Merchants, I would jump ship. But, at least I'm still getting the product I've been wanting without having to deal with egos and sour attitudes. I don't really want to dwell on any of this though, it's all pointless bickering on the internet when it comes down to it. Yeah, Cliff is still getting some of my money. I guess that means he won, whatever, lol. I'll be pleased as hell when TM comes through, and wait patiently 'til then.

hell if it pisses you off too much just sell it for a profit and buy used when the hype goes down, win/win

I was talking about digital gear only and joking about how fast things will change. I would be surprised if digital completely replaces anything ... it will just be a other option.

I kinda feel bad for the sheeple who must have the latest and greatest at all times. i remember one selling point of the axe-fx when it came out was the ability to do patch updates.

with the new model out and the older models discontinued, there wont be such a thing anymore.

as much as people want to make excuses for purchasing digital anything, moores law is a law for a reason - because capitalism and making money is always ahead of generosity. thats the difference between a business and a charity :)

i always told my customers buy for what you need, not what you want. otherwise you'll be in a spiral that never ends.

Just new here. Why? Because I got banned form the Fractal Forum. Why? Because I said mr Jay Mitchell acted like a spoiled dragqueen but only after he accused me that I was talking from my ass and was badly humiliated before that.
Forum rules? Not for mr Mitchell. Second reason was that I stated it was about time the competition met up with the Axe-Fx so there was some healthy competition.

FAS rules are:
- Ask no critical question or you get accused pissing the place.
- Do not publish your findings about other gear then FAS stuff.
- Get pissed over and over by EQ-lacking Jay Mitchell but do not strike back.

And you knowI still like my AFX and MFC-101. UNBELIEVABLE

Maybe we should start a Honest Fractal Audio Forum where people can publish their findings in favor of other gear then the FAS stuff. Can ask an critical question. Can defent themselve when they got pissed by a moderator.

Where id you get the "Spoiled Dragqueen" from? Seems reasonable to ban name calling no?

Welcome. We already have that here. I'm sure the Axe FX is a great at what it does. But one thing it is also great at, is that it turns some people into obsequious, pugnacious morons. We had a recent insertion of these types of threads and I for one am now compltetly turned off to the product. What transopired over the Axe 2 was nothing short of disgusting. It seems you would also agree. Persoanlly I would not want any threads here that attract the above agan.

I posted this over on the FAS board, but not surprisingly it was removed:

Maybe I'm just venting out of frustration here, but the level of ineptness surrounding the release of the Axe Fx II is astounding. I've dealt with other "mom and pop's" that handled business in a much more professional manner, so the defense that FAS is a small company doesn't hold much water.

Cliff is a technical genius and I give him credit for that. I understand that they are probably doing everything in their power to get the units out there (because at $2,200 (or $2,600) a pop, why wouldn't they?), but it's the planning process and customer service that are questionable.

Sure, everyone was told to "chillax"...that there would be plenty to go around. One failed to mention an important point, and that's the trickle pace that they are "going around". I'm sure after a year or so supply may be able to catch up with demand. So in that sense, yes, there will be plenty to go around...eventually. And if that's the case, just let people know.

In that respect, maybe the frustration could be minimized with a little communication from FAS. No one is asking to divulge all of their trade secrets, but a friendly update now and then on availability would surely suffice and be greatly appreciated. I think that is the only bone of contention here....the lack of communication. So throw the wolves a bone once in awhile.

No one made me sit in front of the computer for the past 4 days trying to score one. I chose to do it because I love the product (well that and because I'm stuck in front of a computer all day at work anyway).

But is it really self-entitlement to expect a little information from the source? Especially after the diarrhea of misinformation from other sources. Or is it simply respect for the people that got you here?

I just hope when the dust settles, these mis-steps do not come back to bite FAS in the Axe (pun intended). Because eventually there will be some competition. And I hope when that time comes, those once loyal customers don't look back on this moment as the time Fractal Audio jumped the shark.

Sincerely,

An indignant whiner.
