lol intresting move street reported at $2200 ..and it looks like one more upgrade to the std ultra platform and that may be it except perhaps new amp models if they fit ..unless I am reading into this wrong

Makes me wonder if the price on the current ultra will drop.

Probably will. It may be like any piece of technology, you buy it when its the best new thing for a lot, then a few years later, the better thing comes out and prices drop substantially because it is considered "obsolete".

-wow-

looks promising-it seems all the issues i had with V1 are addressed, so i'm hoping the solutions are truly effective
more power, more focus on tube modeling, less connectivity noise, USB, IR's from redwirez and ownhammer built in,

i look forward to playing that one!

I think it looks pretty good. The ABCD knobs are exactly what I thought the Axe needed. Been thinking about upgrading to an Ultra - this is better.

Kinda lame move on Fractals part IMHO ....people who have supported them from nearly the beginning who can barely afford the Axe by itself get a immediate drop in value of the gear they bought which allowed Fractal to be what they are today without any heads up something new was coming.

boo

Well looks like I was wrong (I was almost convinced it was going to be the mother of all firmware updates). Too bad I just spent all the money I had saved on a Ground Control Pro and 2 expression pedals. No Axe-FX II in my near future.

Kudos to the first person to get one and take a picture of it with a sign saying, "I have an Axe-FX II and you don't - Nanny nanny haha" and shove it in my face . I have it coming.

He was going to have to upgrade sometime. I don't suspect any particular time better than any other.

meh, seems like good business to me. 5 years at the top of the tech landscape is crazy. What company survives resting on their laurels, well besides Gibson that is, lol. j/k
Something was going to come out that surpassed the axe fx eventually, props to Fractal for being the ones to do it. The new connectivity options like USB and reamping have me very interested all of sudden, and this is unexpected gas.

"2" in the countdown splash on Fractal's page should have been the give away for what the announcement was.

really wonder when it'll be coming out... thinking about it, but seeing how good the Axe-FX already sounds, how much better can it really sound, and do I really need it?

Twice the power of the Ultra....Pretty much kills the standard. Might finally score a standard for dirt cheap. lol

I'm hoping they will be start selling for 400-500$

It'll sound more perfecter than it does now, that is certain. At the same time, it won't. This is the spectacular logic I get to enjoy for months to come.

I am fairly curious how big of a leap forward this is. Unless this new tube modeling software is substantially better, it really looks primarily like a hardware and feature upgrade. Which, there is nothing wrong with that, it gives him freedom to update things he couldn't update now due to hardware limitations. But I don't know how much "better" it'll sound.

Can't wait to hear the comparison clips!!!

it would be one thing with just the new options added on to the existing hardware, but this seems like a thorough overhaul, complete with all new logarithms and routines on how it bases it's modeling. proof is in the pudding, but on paper it sounds amazing. I immediately thought about picking up a used standard when the prices drop, but I gotta be honest, the new technology has me very very curious to hear the new one.

Yeah, I want to hear how much better the axe II sounds. It is two times the power of the ultra, and 4 times the power of the standard. I don't see how people would need more processing power, since the standard would even be overkill for me

Sooo, for years people have argued that the AxeFX sounds as good and feels the same as a real tube amp all the while using inferior algorithms.

I've heard the new algorithms make angels jealous.

well, for several years now, I've also heard from people how close the axe duplicates the sound and feel of a real tube amp. This is from guys I know and who's ears I trust, not just reading someone's opinion I don't know. If this "is" truely an improvement, I'm definitely interested in hearing one in person. That and the new features like USB and reamping would kill a lot of birds with one stone for me personally.

oh, and yeah, "if" the new alogarithms are more effective and powerful, then I would consider the old ones inferior to them.

I agree the USB and the other new features are very nice additions.
