Introducing The Axe-Fx™ II.....

I first saw the Axe-Fx™ II on Facebook.... I made the same post here, HRI and TGP. You saw what happened here. HRI was very different from here. I was attacked at the TGP for starting a new thread.

Last time I plugged my guitar into anything digital it was a Digitech PDS 1000 Digital Delay blue dual pedal. That was a while back....

I get someone who just purchased being bummed, but honestly, what gear DOESN'T depreciate by 30-40% as soon as you buy it.......it is what it is......sell it and buy the new one, or continue to enjoy the one you own.

Did people REALLY think the Axe was immune to a loss in value......ever?

I may grab one of the new ones, but only after I've tried it myself. I love the Standard I've had for the last two years, and the new one would have to be a LOT better (not even sure what better means, in this case) for me to spend the dough. The one I have does what I want really well :D

But you'll be missing out on a whole other level if you don't upgrade.

And the Axe-Fx was a MONSTER and deserved such praise that one thread couldn't contain it, it needed part 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.............! I wonder if the internet can contain the MONSTER praise the II deserves?

Whatever will I do? :D

How does a "model" sound better than the "real thing"? Logically, this is not possible and is rather silly.

+1

if i wanted better amplifier sims than the axe fx ultra, i would buy a real amplifier.

....not another digital representation

I own TOOOOOB amps and i own an Axe Fx Ultra. It's ok to own both you know(the boogieman won't get ya)
I will be buying an Axe Fx2 when it is available because having the latest flagship from Fractal is a must bitches.
It's as American as killing Bin Laden.

I waited and watched from the sidelines for years with interest while the Axe-FX Std/Ultra firmware gradually matured. I decided about a month ago to order a Standard. Within the 15 day trial period I decided to get an Ultra instead. I found the modeling exceeded my expectations but, more surprising to me, was that I found the effects far more useful than I'd expected (I've never been much of an effects user). I decided to order a FRFR powered monitor and a MIDI foot controller within a week. A side by side comparison between the Ultra/FRFR rig and my Mesa MkV left me very impressed with the Axe-FX. Each held advantages over the other but the Axe-FX's extraordinary versatility won out. I won't say that it sounds 100% like a real tube amp, it doesn't. It sounded close enough for me to choose it over the MkV. I found I could cover the same ground with the Axe-FX with a world of potential besides.

I'm not in the least bit upset about the new product announcement. I'm actually glad to see FAS pushing the boundaries further outward. I purchased the Axe-FX to use it productively and I had/have no intention of selling it anytime soon. It's going to take quite some time for me to realize anything near its full potential. In the meantime I can watch and wait as the Axe-FX II gradually matures. Assuming I stay with the Axe-FX/FRFR approach the Axe-FX II provides an upgrade path for the future. If/when I do decide that it's time to upgrade my Ultra can serve as a backup unit.

Peterson's attacking anyone on TGP who points out the hypocrisy of the shills/fanboi's (such as himself) saying the previous one was the best so now they weren't telling the truth as a strawman argument.

Scott Peterson can easily, and without second thought (or perhaps even first thought), make this leap.

I heard they're changing the name of TGP to TPP (The Paradigm Page) because the word Gear was wholly inadequate for describing this new monster...

Coming soon to the gear page...

"Axe FX II..this thing is a MONSTER!!!!"

The main problem that I see with equipment like this, is that it boils tone-chasing down to it's most elemental level: buy this one thing, and you can sorta sound like everything. Maybe even REALLY sorta sound like certain things. The new Mark II, and then Mark III, IV, V, etc will all up the ante with ever more closer simulations of the real thing. Kind of like the online "game" Second Life, if you know what I mean - some things are just better when virtualized, for some people. And there's ALWAYS an upgrade coming, guaranteed to up the amount of simul-satiation. My God there's virtual Mullard ELs in there!!!! And chimey 6L6s in every permutation you could possibly imagine!!!! And Gods like Dave directing the flow of electrons to enhance the Simulacrum that the Axe-FX has become!! And you too can tweak endless virtual parameters - take hold of the controls and modulate your ass off inside infinitely variable reverb convolutions!!!!

Somehow I feel cheated of all the fun of old-school tone chasing: with this one box I can set aside my pile of pedals and obviously inferior rack gear and bow in the general direction of one box.

But Holy sh#t, I wants one . . . But the Marsha stays

That sucks. See if he can buy the new Axe-Fx II with monopoly money. Fake money for fake tones. DOH! ;)
